SCOPE:

Recently, Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been declared a global pandemic impacting nearly 99,5 % of countries/territories . Moreover, the number of confirmed cases around the world has reached over 305 million and the number of deaths exceeds 6 million. With the exponential growth of the number of infected people, rapid spread of the virus over different continents and the appearance of new variants such as delta and omicron, the attitudes and behaviors concerning both private users and business users of various technologies have shifted due to the life under quarantine.

Although the focus is on the COVID-19 virus, which is one of the zoonotic viruses, recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a public health emergency regarding the global outbreak of monkeypox virus. More than 18,000 cases of monkeypox have been reported to the WHO in 78 countries, more than 70% in the European region and 25% in the Americas region. And, at the beginning of August, 2022 a group of chinese scientists have identified a new virus named Langya henipavirus in china.

In this regard, mathematical modeling and intelligent control have got a lot of attention in many sectors, including health, finance, education, transportation, etc. In this context, recently, mathematical modeling and intelligent control have emerged as powerful computational models and have shown significant success for combating any pandemic.

This book presents the latest cutting-edge research, in applied mathematical modeling for combating COVID-19 or other pandemic. These models can be used to understand how COVID-19 or other pandemic can spread, to analyze data on the incidence of infectious diseases and to predict possible future scenarios concerning the COVID-19 pandemic or other pandemic. In addition, this book discusses new models, practical solutions, and technological advances related to detecting and analyzing COVID-19 or other pandemic based on intelligent control systems, in order to help decision-makers, managers, professionals, and researchers  .  Finally, a major part of the book focuses on preparing the scientific community for the next pandemic, particularly the application of mathematical modeling and intelligent control for combating monkeypox virus and Langya henipavirus.
