「歡迎來到馬偕急診醫學部創立的野外醫學中心。本中心致力於提供專業的野外醫療、登山醫學諮詢與緊急救護培訓...」
隨著政府逐步推動開放山林與海洋休憩活動政策，民眾參與戶外探險與自然體驗的機會顯著提升，野外地區之緊急醫療需求亦日益增加。面對此一趨勢，台灣急診醫學會已將「野外醫學」正式列為急診醫學次專科發展的重要領域之一。
本院急診醫學部長期深耕野外醫學教育與訓練，並與急診醫學會密切合作，發展野外急症相關課程與認證制度，致力於提升醫療人員及戶外活動參與者在資源受限環境中的緊急應變與救護能力。
在學術發展方面，成立「高海拔疾病研究團隊」，積極進行臨床收案與論文發表，提升整體研究能量。同時引進低氧運動測試與常壓低氧訓練模組，除可協助計畫挑戰國外高海拔攀登之團隊進行完善的行前準備外，亦可應用於國內山域搜救人員之適應性評估與訓練，進而拓展低氧技術於臨床醫療與野外緊急救護系統中的實務應用價值。
憑藉堅實的人才基礎與專業整合能力，本院於2023年11月正式成立「馬偕野外醫學中心」，為國內首家設立野外醫學中心之醫療機構，象徵我國野外醫學發展邁入新的里程碑。

The MacKay Wilderness Medicine Center, established in November 2023, is Taiwan’s firstdedicated wilderness medicine center established by a medical institution. Located at Department of Emergency Medicine, MacKay Memorial Hospital, the Center integrates high-altitude research, wilderness medicine education, and outdoor medical care.
Our mission is to improve medical preparedness and emergency response in remote and resourcelimited environments. In collaboration with the Taiwan Society of Emergency Medicine, we actively provide the Taiwan Wilderness Life Support (TWLS) Training Courses, a comprehensive training program covering a wide range of wilderness emergencies and designed to enhance emergency response and medical rescue capabilities among healthcare professionals and outdoor activity participants
In addition to providing wilderness medicine education and training, we focus our academic efforts on high-altitude medicine and hypoxia-related research. The High-Altitude Illness Research Team develops hypoxic exercise testing and normobaric hypoxic training programs to support high-altitude expedition preparation and the acclimatization of mountain search-and-rescue personnel.
Through multidisciplinary collaboration, the Center aims to advance wilderness medicine in Taiwan and translate research into practical solutions for safer outdoor activities and more effective medical care in challenging environments.
