  • Using Alternative and Augmentative Communication Systems (AAC)/Devices
    • sign language including American-Sign Language, Sign-Supported Speech, Signed English, etc.
    • dynamic display devices (Proloquo2go, TouchChat, LAMP Words for Life, etc.)
    • static Display Devices (Go Talk, QuickTalker, Communication Builder, etc.)
    • communication Boards (laminated core vocabulary boards)
    • Total Communication Approach (A mixture of the above-mentioned along with verbal and/or gestural speech)
  • written language skills
    • phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, phonics skills, reading fluency, etc.
    • reading comprehension
    • development of writing skills
  • auditory training skills
    • for children/adults with deafness or hard of hearing who use hearing aids or cochlear implants
    • to develop auditory comprehension in addition to the person's preferred mode of communication (sign language, ASL, verbal language, total communication, etc.
