Princeton COS IW Fall 2020: Machine Learning for Social Justice

In this IW seminar, we will focus on issues of social justice for Black Americans through the lens of data. Students will gather data on issues such as police violence, poverty, incarceration, Covid-19 mortality rates, unemployment, and housing and eviction. These data will be used to ask critical questions about racial disparities, quantify the extent of those disparities, and evaluate the effects of possible interventions such as policy changes. We will discuss the essentials of data analysis & data cleaning, and presenting results to study challenging issues in social justice.
