Flood Forecasting Meets ML at Google
The Workshop will take place on January 16th-17th 2019, at the Google campus in Tel-Aviv.
Flood forecasting is constantly evolving, as new satellites are launched, in-situ measurements are installed, and public data sets are published. The workshop will focus on improving flood forecasting globally, with an emphasis on data-scarce regions and large rivers, by aggregating and sharing large data sets, automating calibration and modeling processes, and applying modern statistical and machine learning tools to the problem. We also plan on introducing academics, industry experts and Google’s new flood forecasting team to each other, so as to foster new collaborations.
