Mrs. Knutson's 5th Grade
My name is Mrs. Marie Knutson. I was born in Michigan to wonderful parents who encouraged me to work hard and follow my dreams. At an early age, it became my dream to be a teacher. My favorite playtime pretend was to play school with my younger sister and brothers. We moved to Utah when I was 11, where I attended and graduated Weber State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, at the age of 22. My parents were my biggest supporters and sources of encouragement through those years of education and working full time. I taught at a school in West Jordan for 7 years: 6 years in fourth grade and 1 year in 3rd grade. During year 5, at the age of 28, I met and married my amazing husband. Following those years, I was blessed with the births of my children. At that time I spent 5 years as a stay at home mom raising my boys until 2 of them were able to enter into school. I then decided it was time to return to the career that I love! My husband now enjoys the beautiful experience of stay-at-home dad with our youngest, which he loves! And I love working at Scholar, where the administration and fellow teachers are awesome and supportive!
