👋 Hello and welcome!
I’m Mohammed K. AbuFoul, a Ph.D. candidate in Communication Engineering at Lakehead University, Canada, originally from Gaza, Palestine. My academic journey has been shaped by over a decade of experience as a university lecturer, mentor, and researcher passionate about advancing wireless communication systems in challenging environments. My research focuses on physical-layer communication challenges in high-mobility settings, particularly wireless sensing, Doppler-aware estimation, and innovative signal processing techniques.
Having lived and taught in diverse cultural contexts, I deeply value the power of education to transform lives and communities. As I near the completion of my doctorate, I am excited to pursue a faculty position in Canada where I can contribute to cutting-edge research, inspire students, and foster collaboration in inclusive academic environments.
Thank you for visiting my site. Please feel free to explore my work and get in touch!
Get to know me better by checking out my recent updates and news.
Mohammed Kamel AbuFoul (Graduate Student Member, IEEE) earned his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering (Communications and Control) and his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (Telecommunication Systems) from the Islamic University of Gaza, Palestine, in 2009 and 2014, respectively. Since 2022, he has been pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, ON, Canada, with a focus on wireless communication, specifically 6G waveform design and OTFS performance analysis.
In 2023 and 2025, he served as a sessional lecturer in the Computer Science Department and Software Engineering at Lakehead University. His academic career began as a teaching assistant in the Electrical Engineering Department at the Islamic University of Gaza from 2009 to 2011. Between 2011 and 2022, he worked as a part-time (sessional) lecturer at the University College of Applied Sciences (UCAS) in Gaza, Palestine. At UCAS, he contributed to curriculum development by helping restructure the Electrical and Electronics Department’s course plan based on real-world scenarios that students are likely to encounter in their professional careers after graduation.
His master’s research focused on multi-stage channel coding, and his subsequent research areas include V2X communication, 5G physical layer technologies, multiuser MIMO systems, machine learning, and optimization.
He received the Faculty Research Scholarship and the Faculty of Engineering Award from Lakehead University in 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026. He was also awarded the CUPE Local 3905 Graduate Award in 2025.
