About me
I am a faculty of Physics at the Miami University. I was born and brought up in Calcutta (Kolkata), India. I went to University of Calcutta for my undergraduate studies, and later attended Bowling Green State University (M.S) and Virginia Tech. (PhD). I teach physics at the Miami University Middletown campus, where I also have my research lab. I am a condensed matter physicist, with emphasis on spectroscopy. My current research projects include matter at extreme conditions, understanding traditional and novel semiconductor based materials for efficient device applications, and developing alternate pathways for characterization of materials important for a greener environment. Details of my current and forthcoming research projects could be found in the "Research" link (top right corner).
As an educator, I am also interested in pedagogical developments in the introductory physics education, as well as its impacts on diversity and inclusion related issues.
Apart from my academic activities, I am an avid traveler, a cinema enthusiast, and an amateur soccer/cricket player. I am also a published author in the Bengali literary arena, where I write and edit for a webzine.
