Covid-19 Updates

February 21, 2021

Mistwood Community,

We hope this week rejuvenated and renewed body and spirit. The teachers spent the week preparing for packet pick up (next Friday, February 26, 2021 2 to 5 pm at Mistwood), grading papers, reviewing all of the updated CDC, CAPH and Humboldt County Office of Education information on when we can open. As such, we have revised our reopening plan and have two new Plan B’s to move into.

Like a majority of you, we are excited to return to on-site learning. We also honor those wanting to wait a little longer, as variants and vaccines come into play. Some of the teachers were vaccinated this weekend and that is a step in our plan to return to more time on-site.

Right now, we are looking at returning to school for Hybrid Plan B-1 (2 half days per week per cohort) as soon as we can. Regulations are complicated and Alice and Rebecca are working on creating the new documentation required for in-person instruction. Masks, Social Distancing, Handwashing, staying home when feeling ill, utilizing at home and on-site screening are all required in order for us to reopen. More information will be coming with a required response, in order for us to complete our re-opening paperwork. Currently Humboldt County is in Tier 1 with a 21.7% community transmission. As soon as the county moves to Tier 3 for 5 days, we can open. If the 5 days fall in the middle of the week, we will begin onsite the following Monday. Please let us know if you have any concerns or special requests.

Students who are remaining with distance learning, will have one on one or small group tutoring sessions to continue lessons.

Sincerely,

Alice Finen and Rebecca Nordquist,

Co-Directors, Mistwood Educational Center
