Dundanion Castle is a Tudor tower house. The ruins of which are visible from the public walkway of the old Cork, Blackrock and Passage Railway. The castle ruin lies on the grounds of Dundanion House, which is private property and not publicly accessible. A tower house is a particular type of stone structure, built for defensive purposes as well as habitation. Tower houses began to appear in the Middle Ages. What was Dundanion Castle previously known as?
