Digital Fluency is 5th element of Digital Citizenship. Digital Fluency is the process of understanding technology and its use. The better educated or “digitally fluent,” students are, the more likely they are to make good decisions online, like supporting others instead of making negative comments. Digital literacy includes the discussion of media literacy and the ability to discern good information from poor, such as “fake news” from real news.
Digital Fluency is understanding how technology is used and being able to tell good information from bad information. It is important to teach students Digital Fluency so they can fully understand how to use and get the most of their technology. It is also important for students to be able to tell credible sources from non-credible sources in order to prevent spreading false information.
