Classroom Responsibilities
RClass Responsibilities & Rules
Respect yourself, the teacher, other students, administration, librarian, and other staff at the school
Come prepared to class with a positive attitude and:
your computer with a full battery
computer charger
headphones
Arrive on time to class, this means inside the classroom, at your desk with your materials ready.
Anyone outside the classroom as the tardy bell rings is marked as tardy.
If you are under 20 minutes late (tardy), please enter the classroom quietly and do not interrupt or distract others
If you are more than 20 minutes late do not enter the classroom.
You must go to the attendance office to ask for a pass to enter the classroom.
When you arrive your cell phone immediately goes into the charging station before you sit down. Our classroom uses a light system to let you know when you can and cannot use your phone or computer.
Red light = no cell phone zone
Blue light = you may listen to music using headphones on your computer (not with cell phone)
Green light = you may go pick up your cell phone
Get your binder and a dictionary everyday
Please keep talking to a minimum when the teacher is talking
Help each other to build an English-learning community
Practice listening, reading, speaking, and writing with each other
Making mistakes is okay, and normal
This is your safe space to practice
Ask permission any time you need to leave class (restroom, offices, library, etc. )
You must take the hall pass when you leave
You cannot leave the classroom if you do not have your ID visible
visible ID = clipped to your clothes
visible ID = hung around your neck
No food or drinks are allowed during class, you can leave your food on the shelves in the front
Return desks, tables and chairs, binders and other materials to their places at the end of class
Keep the classroom clean, there are brooms, dustpans, and paper towels and other cleaning supplies available, and throw away any trash in the trash can
Ask 3 then me (will be used starting the 2nd 9 weeks)
Behavioral Management:
Gesture or verbal warning
Side conference with student in private
Calling and/or emailing parent or guardian
Communication with administration and parent or guardian
