## 1. The short version
- **We do not collect, store, sell, rent, or share your personal information.**
- MiSpin has **no servers, no user accounts, and no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.**
- Everything MiSpin does happens **on your device** or through **Apple's own services** (Apple Music / MusicKit, Apple Speech Recognition, and Apple Intelligence's on-device model).
- Your music data, listening stats, preferences, and AI requests **stay on your device** and under Apple's control where Apple services are involved.

## 2. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the MiSpin app distributed through the Apple App Store and its included extensions (the home/lock-screen widgets and the Live Activity).

## 3. Information we do **not** collect
We want to be clear about what we **don't** do:
- We do **not** collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts.
- We do **not** create accounts or profiles for you.
- We do **not** use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or tracking technologies.
- We do **not** track you across apps or websites, and we do **not** access the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
- We do **not** transmit your music library, listening history, or app activity to any server operated by us — **because we operate no servers.**

## 4. Information the app accesses (and where it stays)
MiSpin needs access to certain device features to function. In each case, the data is processed on your device and/or by Apple, not by us.
### a. Apple Music (MusicKit)
With your permission, MiSpin accesses your Apple Music library and the Apple Music catalog so it can show your songs, albums, artists, and playlists, play music, build AI DJ mixes, and discover new tracks. This access is provided by Apple's **MusicKit** framework and governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy. MiSpin reads this content to display and play it; it does not copy your library to any external server.
### b. Microphone & Speech Recognition (optional)
If you choose to **speak** an AI DJ request, MiSpin uses the microphone and Apple's **Speech Recognition** to convert your speech to text. Audio is captured only while you are actively dictating, and the resulting text is used solely to build your music mix. Depending on your device and language, Apple may process this audio **on-device** or transmit it to Apple for transcription under **Apple's** privacy practices. MiSpin does not retain your audio recordings, and we never receive them. This feature is entirely optional — typing works instead.
### c. On-device AI (Apple Intelligence / Foundation Models)
The "AI DJ" and "AI liner notes" features use Apple's **on-device** Foundation Models. Your prompts are processed **locally on your device** by Apple's system model. These prompts are **not** sent to us or to any third party. (Availability requires a compatible device with Apple Intelligence enabled; otherwise MiSpin falls back to an on-device keyword method.)
### d. Listening statistics
MiSpin keeps simple, **on-device** statistics (such as number of tracks played, time listened, and your most-played artists, genres, and songs) so it can show you a personal stats dashboard and tune mixes to your taste. This information is stored locally in your device's app storage and **never leaves your device**. You can erase it at any time via **Settings → Reset Stats** in the app, or by deleting the app.
### e. App preferences
Your settings (colors, wheel sound and sensitivity, mood lighting, vinyl mode, sleep timer, and similar options) are stored **on your device** using standard local storage. They are not transmitted anywhere.
### f. Now-Playing data for Widgets & Live Activity
To power the home-screen widgets, lock-screen widgets, and the Dynamic Island Live Activity, MiSpin stores a small **now-playing snapshot** (current track title, artist, playback progress, your selected accent color, basic listening totals, and the current album artwork image) in a private **App Group container** shared only between MiSpin and its own widget extension on your device. This data stays on your device and is used only to render those system experiences.
### g. CarPlay
MiSpin includes optional CarPlay support to display and control playback on a compatible vehicle display. No additional personal data is collected for this feature.

## 5. How we use information
Because the app processes data locally, we use the accessed information only to:
- Display and play your music and the Apple Music catalog.
- Build AI DJ mixes and discover new music based on your request and on-device listening stats.
- Generate optional short "liner notes" about the current artist/song.
- Show your personal listening dashboard.
- Power widgets, the Live Activity / Dynamic Island, and CarPlay.
- Remember your preferences.
We do **not** use your information for advertising, profiling for third parties, or any purpose unrelated to operating the app's features on your device.

## 6. How we share information
**We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information with anyone.**
The only "sharing" that occurs is the technical interaction between your device and **Apple's** services that you have authorized (Apple Music / MusicKit, Apple Speech Recognition, and Apple Intelligence). Those interactions are governed by Apple's privacy policy:

We have no access to the data exchanged between your device and Apple beyond what is necessary to display and play your music within the app.

## 7. Data retention & deletion
- **On-device data** (stats, preferences, now-playing snapshot, cached artwork) remains on your device until you reset stats, change settings, or delete the app.
- **Deleting the app** removes all locally stored MiSpin data, including the App Group container used by the widgets.
- We retain **nothing** on our side, because we operate no servers and collect no data.

## 8. Managing permissions
You are in control. You can review or change MiSpin's permissions at any time in **iOS Settings**:
- **Apple Music:** Settings → Privacy & Security → Media & Apple Music → MiSpin
- **Microphone:** Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → MiSpin
- **Speech Recognition:** Settings → Privacy & Security → Speech Recognition → MiSpin
- **Apple Intelligence:** Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri
Revoking a permission may disable the related feature (for example, turning off microphone access disables voice input for the AI DJ), but the rest of the app will continue to work.

## 9. Children's privacy
MiSpin is a general-audience music application and is **not** directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children. An Apple Music subscription, managed by Apple and the account holder, is required for full playback.

## 10. Security
Because MiSpin stores data only on your device and transmits no personal data to us, your information benefits from the security of your device and of Apple's platform (including device encryption and sandboxing). We encourage you to keep your device updated and protected with a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.

## 11. Your rights (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other regions)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights such as access, correction, deletion, and portability of personal data, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
Because MiSpin does **not** collect or store personal data on our servers and we have no ability to identify you:
- We have no personal data about you to access, correct, export, or delete.
- We do **not** "sell" or "share" personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not process it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- You can delete all on-device data at any time by resetting stats or deleting the app.

## 12. International users
MiSpin can be used in regions where Apple Music and the App Store are available. Any processing performed by Apple's services occurs under Apple's infrastructure and policies. We do not transfer your data internationally because we do not collect it.

## 13. Third-party services & frameworks
MiSpin is built on Apple frameworks and services, including MusicKit (Apple Music), Speech, the Foundation Models framework (Apple Intelligence), ActivityKit, WidgetKit, and CarPlay. Apple Music content and metadata are the property of Apple and the respective rights holders. MiSpin is an independent app and is **not** affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc.

## 14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at this URL. Material changes will be reflected here, and your continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

## 15. AI
MiSpin does not use or send any data to a third-party AI service. The "AI DJ" feature uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence) — the user's request is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted to our servers (we have none) or any third party.

# Support

### Getting started
- **Connect Apple Music:** On first launch, tap **Connect Apple Music** and allow access. MiSpin requires an **Apple Music subscription** for full playback.
- **Browse your music:** Tap **Music** on the main menu to view **Songs, Artists, Albums,** and **Playlists**. Use the click wheel (spin to scroll, tap a region, press center to select) or turn on **Full Screen** in Settings for touch-only navigation.
### AI DJ
- **What it does:** Describe a vibe ("late-night focus," "high-energy run") and MiSpin builds a mix from your library — or, with **Discover** on, from the Apple Music catalog.
- **Requirements:** The smartest results use **Apple Intelligence** (a compatible device with it enabled). Without it, MiSpin uses an on-device keyword method.
- **Voice input:** Tap the microphone in the prompt field to speak your request (requires Microphone and Speech Recognition permission).
- **Discover new music:** Toggle **Discover new music** to pull fresh tracks from Apple Music. This requires an active Apple Music subscription for full playback.
### "I only see a small number of songs"
MiSpin shows songs that are **added to your Apple Music Library**. Tracks you only stream may not appear. Use **AI DJ → Discover** to pull from the full Apple Music catalog. You can also save songs to your Library from the Now Playing screen or by long-pressing a song.
### Widgets, Live Activity & Dynamic Island
- Play a song to see the Live Activity in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen.
- Add widgets from the Home Screen (long-press → **+** → search **MiSpin**) or Lock Screen (**Customize**).
- These require iOS 17 or later and an Apple Intelligence–independent setup; some features need a real device (they don't appear in the Simulator).
### Managing your data
- **Reset listening stats:** Settings → **Reset Stats**.
- **Change permissions:** see "Managing permissions" above.
- **Sleep timer, colors, wheel sound/sensitivity, vinyl mode, mood lighting, animated background:** all in **Settings**.
### Troubleshooting
- **No music or playback errors:** Confirm you have an active Apple Music subscription and that MiSpin has Media & Apple Music permission. Try restarting the app.
- **Voice input not working:** Check Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions; voice input requires a real device with a microphone.
- **AI DJ results look off:** Try a clearer prompt or enable **Discover**; results improve when your library has genre information.
