Misha (Michael) Schmalian 

Hi. I'm a D.Phil. student at the University of Oxford, Balliol College under the supervision of Prof. Marc Lackenby.  I am primarily interested in geometric topology, with a current focus on hyperbolic three-manifolds and taut-foliations.

From 2018 to 2022, I earned a bachelor's and master's degree at the University of Cambridge, Trinity College. From 2011 to 2018, I attended the Helmholtz Gymnasium, Karlsruhe. Though I was born and grew up in the U.S. state of Iowa, I have lived in Germany for the past decade.
