Land Acknowledgment: Invitation to Begin

The land on which Miramar College sits has been occupied since time immemorial by the Kumeyaay people. Sharing a statement, in which we acknowledge and honor the original owners of the land, is a choice. We invite you to explore and engage with this interactive self-study module in order to develop your own reasons for sharing a land acknowledgment.

This site was developed by a collaborative team of members from Miramar College's Land Acknowledgment Taskforce of the IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism) Committee and the 2021-22 Native Students and Indigenous Issues Community of Inquiry. Miramar College is committed to an action plan to support our Native-identified students. Please contact Lagonzal@sdccd.edu for information.
