The MLA/ITEM lobbyist keeps members informed of activities at the Capitol that may affect libraries. You can stay up-to-date by reading the Legislative Update Newsletter (Example: Issue #1), sent during the session and at other times throughout the year. All MLA & ITEM members are subscribed to the newsletter. Others may subscribe here.
There is a monthly Legislative Update meeting held online via Zoom the first Wednesday of most months. Everyone is welcome to attend. Sam Walseth, MLA/ITEM lobbyist, gives a report on happenings at the Capitol. Other issues may be discussed, such as writing letters to our US Senators or Minnesota Constitutional Officers, and there is time for questions. Items for the agenda may be submitted to the current MLA Legislative Chair by the Friday before the meeting. Past Agendas and meeting notes can be found here: MLA Legislative Documents.
