Over on the Brickonicle discord server we started a building challenge. The challenge was to build a system based rahi, and one had to incorporate one Minionicle part. The rahi could be non-canon or a canon one, so own creations were fine. Let's take a look at the entries.
The first entry was by ShieldWolf92. They created this fanmade monstrosity. They say they haven't made lore for it yet, but "it's a spider with mantis-like limbs and habits. It is more of a hunter/ambush predator rather than building a web to trap prey." Here we see it ready to feed on Tahu, or some other fire character.
The creature incorporates both classic Bionicle parts, like a grey Miru and a grey nuva chest armor. The strong green colors gives throwback to the first years with Bionicle. It also uses several Minionicle parts, including the air katana and the hook part from the advent calendar.
Its large yellow eyes, huge swordlike frontlegs and great hooked teeth makes this not something I like to meet.
The tarakava is a classic rahi from the first Bionicle wave, and many remember it from the Gali cutscene from Mata Nui Online Game. PleiadesXI has made a blue tarakava fighting against Tahu.
The colors are very recognizable and they have used Minionicle parts for some notisable notisable features, the teeth, using a Onua claw, and a blue (maybe infected) pakari. It also features great use of the rounded 1x4 plate for the arms, making it able to move like the real set and hit our heroes. Instead of a belt, PleiadesXI have used wheels for it's feet, making it still able to drive around. The question is what happens to it if it gets a flat tire?
Pyro has created another classic rahi, the Nui-Rama. This one is in orange, and is very recognizable. Pyro used the hook for its nose and the claws for its claws. Both from the advent calendar, and both true to the original set. For the masks Pyro used a Kakama and Kaukau. I assuem they'll update it later with the classic transparent blue Ruru.
The build is compact and recognizable. The wings uses 4L light grey bars and the stinger is built with a grey slope. The orange 1x2 plate helps introduce orange to it's stinger too. I would love to see thsi design in lime as well.
Toa Fellha made another huge monstrosity, the Tram-Krom Whale. This thing is a blend of classic bionicle parts and system, making it blend in with the classic play sets. The whale also has a submarine look with a dome on the back, the big ring on the side and the binocular piece poking up from it's back, making me wonder if it could be used as a vehicle as well.
The Minionicle part is a little hidden. It's a air katana behind the eyes.
SuperHasbro8284's entry came in a little late, but we'll include it in the review anyway. Another aquatic rahi, in nice aquatic colors. It gives a Bionicle feel with the use of towball joints spliting it in 3 parts. It also features a Pakari on it front face, making it blend in with the classic Rahi of the early years of Bionicle.
