Application: MingDu
MingDu is a Chinese-language learning application developed by Lumière Loom. MingDu is designed to work primarily on the user’s device and does not require an account.
MingDu does not contain advertising or advertising SDKs. It does not include third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, and Lumière Loom does not operate a server that receives users’ learning activity.
Except for the Google platform services described below, users’ learning content and activity remain on their devices.
To provide its features, MingDu may process and store the following information locally on the user’s device:
Text pasted, imported, or shared with the Reader
Reader documents and folders
Dictionary searches and saved words
Flashcard decks, cards, and review history
Learning progress and practice activity
App settings and preferences
This information is used only to provide MingDu’s features. MingDu does not transmit this learning information to Lumière Loom or to a developer-operated server.
Users should avoid placing information in MingDu that they do not want stored on their device or included in a device backup.
MingDu does NOT require or collect:
Names or account profiles
Email addresses through the app
Precise or approximate location
Contacts
Photos, videos, or audio recordings
Advertising identifiers
Browsing history
Learning content or learning-history information
Information for advertising or behavioral profiling
Lumière Loom does not sell users’ personal information.
If a user voluntarily contacts Lumière Loom by email, Lumière Loom will receive the email address, message, and any information the user chooses to include. This information will be used only to answer the request, provide support, investigate a problem, or meet applicable legal obligations. Users should not include unnecessary sensitive information in support messages.
MingDu may offer an optional one-time purchase called MingDu Pro through Google Play Billing.
Payments are processed by Google Play. Lumière Loom does not receive or store users’ complete payment-card or banking information.
MingDu may receive limited signed purchase information from Google Play, such as the purchased product, purchase status, and purchase token. This information is used on the device to verify, unlock, and restore MingDu Pro. MingDu does not send purchase tokens to a Lumière Loom server.
Google may make limited transaction records available to Lumière Loom through Google Play Console, such as an order identifier, purchased product, price, sale region, and purchase or refund status. This information may be used only for purchase fulfillment, refunds, fraud prevention, accounting, legal compliance, and customer support.
Google’s handling of purchase and account information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the applicable Google Play terms.
If Android backup or device transfer is enabled on the user’s device, Android may back up eligible MingDu data to the user’s Google Account or transfer it to another device.
These operations are provided and controlled by Android and Google. Lumière Loom does not receive or have access to the contents of these backups.
Users can manage backup settings through their device or Google Account settings. Deleting MingDu or clearing its storage may not automatically delete an existing backup retained by Android or Google.
MingDu’s Pro purchase entitlement is intended to be restored independently through Google Play and is not intended to be transferred as part of MingDu’s local data backup.
Lumière Loom does not sell, rent, or share users’ locally stored learning data.
Information may be processed by Google when a user:
Downloads or updates MingDu through Google Play
Purchases or restores MingDu Pro
Uses Android backup or device-transfer functionality
Interacts with Google Play services
Google processes this information under its own privacy policies and terms.
Google Play may also provide Lumière Loom with store-level reports concerning installs, purchases, refunds, app stability, and performance. MingDu does not include a separate analytics system for tracking users inside the app.
Learning information stored by MingDu remains on the user’s device until the user deletes it, clears MingDu’s app storage, uninstalls the app, or restores or replaces the data.
Users can remove all locally stored MingDu data through Android’s application settings by selecting MingDu and clearing its storage. Uninstalling MingDu removes its local application data, subject to any backups separately maintained by Android or Google.
Because MingDu does not provide user accounts or store learning data on a Lumière Loom server, there is no online MingDu account or server-side learning profile to delete.
Support correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide support, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations. Users may request deletion of support correspondence by contacting Lumière Loom, subject to any applicable legal retention requirements.
Google Play purchase records are retained according to Google’s policies and any applicable financial, tax, accounting, or legal requirements.
MingDu uses Android’s application storage protections to help prevent other ordinary applications from accessing its locally stored data.
No method of electronic storage or device protection is completely secure. Users are responsible for protecting access to their devices, Google Accounts, backups, and device credentials.
MingDu does not provide accounts, social networking, advertising, or developer-operated collection of personal information from children or other users.
If a parent or guardian believes that a child has voluntarily sent personal information to Lumière Loom through a support message, they may contact Lumière Loom to request its deletion.
Lumière Loom may update this Privacy Policy if MingDu’s features, data practices, legal obligations, or third-party services change.
The revised policy will be published with an updated effective date. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate method when required.
