Nan Miles Xi

I am a Senior Data Scientist in Drug Delivery Device Development at Eli Lilly and Company. Before joining Lilly, I was a Senior Manager in Discovery and Exploratory Statistics at AbbVie and an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Loyola University Chicago. I received my Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where I worked with Professor Jingyi Jessica Li. I received my M.S. in Economics from Nankai University in 2012 and my B.S. in Computer Science from Dalian University of Technology in 2007.

My research focuses on developing statistical and machine learning methods for complex biomedical and engineering data, with particular interests in clinical trial design, high-dimensional inference, causal inference, and AI-enabled scientific discovery. My current work involves statistical and data science methodology for drug delivery device development, including experimental data integration, predictive modeling, design optimization, and engineering decision support. My previous research has spanned biomarker and precision medicine analytics, genomics and proteomics, clinical and translational research, health informatics, and electronic health records. My research has been supported by NIH and institutional grants..
