About this policy
MileFolio is a local vehicle logbook for manually entered mileage, fuel, service, expenses, receipts and maintenance reminders. The app works offline, has no accounts or developer-operated server, and does not request Android’s INTERNET permission. It does not send your records, usage activity or identifiers to the developer. There are no advertising, analytics or remote crash-reporting SDKs.
Information stored on your device
MileFolio stores vehicle names, make, model, year, fuel type, currency, manually entered odometer readings, fuel and service records, expenses, dates, amounts, notes, vendors, selected photos, reminder rules and completion history. It also stores appearance, units, haptic, onboarding, selected-vehicle and notification preferences, local identifiers and scheduling information. These records provide the features you request and remain in the app’s private Android storage. The developer cannot remotely view or retrieve them.
The app does not connect to your vehicle, bank, GPS or a remote receipt-recognition service. Reports use your manual records. Reminders use dates and your last entered mileage; the app does not automatically measure mileage or provide manufacturer maintenance advice.
Photos and permissions
Photos are accessed only when you choose them through Android’s photo picker. MileFolio does not request broad photo-library, camera, microphone, contacts or location access. Normal imports copy chosen photos into private storage, adjust orientation and size, and create opaque JPEG images without copying original EXIF or GPS metadata. Images restored from a backup may retain metadata already present in that backup. Visible photo content and receipts may contain personal information. A photo provider may retrieve its own cloud-hosted image under its own terms.
Optional local notifications use saved reminder rules and mileage dates. Notification content may appear on your lock screen according to Android settings. Notifications respect Android permission and channel settings and can be disabled; in-app reminders remain available without notification permission. Android may defer scheduled work. Background components may use wake, boot, foreground-service and connectivity-state permissions for local scheduling. Connectivity-state permission does not grant Internet transport. Haptics use your saved preference and Android controls.
Backups, export and sharing
When you explicitly export a ZIP backup, it contains saved vehicle records, preferences and JPEG attachments with integrity information. You select the file destination through Android’s document picker. Restore validates the selected archive and previews its contents before you confirm replacement of local subject records. Appearance and onboarding remain local; imported notification preferences start disabled.
CSV exports contain selected logbook or report fields and no photo files; CSV is not a restorable backup. Entry text and individual photos are shared only through an explicit action and an app you choose. Photo sharing uses a temporary Android file-access permission. A selected file or photo provider may be local or cloud-backed. Receiving apps and providers handle the information you pass to them under their own policies. MileFolio does not automatically upload backups to a developer server and cannot recall exported or shared copies.
Exported backups are not password-protected or encrypted by the app. Integrity checks help detect damaged files but do not provide confidentiality. Protect exported files if they contain private notes, photos or other sensitive content. The app is configured to exclude private records from Android automatic cloud backup and device transfer; operating-system and device-manufacturer behaviour is outside the app’s direct control.
Retention and deletion
Records remain locally until you remove them, replace them through a confirmed restore, clear app storage or uninstall the app. Deleting a vehicle or entry removes associated records and attachments as applicable. Archiving a vehicle retains its history and suppresses its active reminders. Delete all local data removes vehicles, entries, saved photos, reminders and completion records and disables summaries; appearance, onboarding and some other preferences remain. Unused photo files may be removed by later cleanup.
Android’s Clear storage function and uninstalling remove private app data under Android’s storage rules. Local deletion is not a guarantee of forensic secure erasure. Exported backups, CSV files, shared copies and files held by another provider must be deleted separately. The developer keeps no copy of your in-app records, cannot remotely delete them, and cannot recover lost local records without your usable backup.
Security and independent services
MileFolio uses Android private application storage and scoped access to files you choose. It does not provide separate database encryption or an app-level password lock. Protect your device with a screen lock and current security updates, and control access to exported files. No software can guarantee protection against every form of unauthorised access.
Open-source Android and Kotlin libraries support the interface, storage and local functions; their inclusion does not send your records to their authors. Licence information is available in About. Static illustrations supplied with the app do not create a runtime connection to image-generation services. Android, Google Play, external apps and file providers may process information independently under their own policies. This policy describes MileFolio. The policy website is hosted by Google Sites and is subject to Google’s own privacy terms.
Your choices and contact
You can review and edit records, manage Android permissions, disable optional notifications, export files and use the deletion controls described above. For support or privacy questions, email vyngo20042008@gmail.com. Avoid sending complete backups, receipt photos or private notes unless necessary for your enquiry. If you email us, your email address and message are provided to our Gmail-hosted support mailbox to handle the enquiry; this is separate from the app’s local operation.
Changes
We will update this policy if the app’s information handling changes. The date at the top identifies the current text. New collection, sharing or device access must be reflected in the policy and explained in the app where applicable.
