The MLB Draft league played their first games in June after former members of the rookie leagues Carolina and Eastern division and Class A Short Season NY Penn leagues merged. The six current teams were all once an MLB team affiliate in the minor leagues, but due to the MILB rebranding, they were cut by the MLB partner. However, MLB didn't want these teams to leave the system just yet, so they created a collegiate summer baseball league. The current teams in the MLB draft league are the State Collge Spikes, Trenton Thunder, Fredrick Keys, Williamsport Crosscuters, West Virginia Black Bears, Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
