2026-06-15: Comps as an Indicator of Decline
(started on June 15, got tired of writing June 19)
Actual blog post this time and it's on actual SNCA
I'm probably just being neurotic by thinking that a bunch of songs being released at the same time and put into a glorified playlist really does anything; there will be a constant stream of songs no matter what (given the bloat this scene has) but I think the current state of compilations captures a lot of what's going wrong with incelcore.
Compilations, much like their content, strike me as just noise, products, nothing meaningful to the musician or listener. The songs can sound good technically, be mixed well, but it's rare for anybody to make anything unique and memorable, newer artists don't even try to do so. I think the only artists from the last year or so that I genuinely care to listen to are chickentender nameforgetter skerit and fucking bwaaa-ka
There's so much bloat, and I think that recent "total shroom death" comp is a prime example. There's almost a hundred tracks and very few of them (I actually listened to them all) were any good--and most importantly, not one of them was memorable.
Maybe it's my fault for trying to find something new in this scene, but man, I tried to like something in there and came out sorely disappointed.
Another purpose comps seemed to serve is promoting newer/less popular artists, hell, that's most of how I got my followers, but now so few people even care to listen to comps other than the artists they like, since most recent comps fail to vet, and end up with a bunch of bad musicians finding their way on, wasting everyone's time with their two to three minutes of mid
It really sucks seeing something that was genuinely exciting for me get bogged down so fast. (well it's been a YEAR but regardless) I think we've got to all just take breaks from comps and do something else... like splits, maybe?
Okok going back to my point. Comp quality is an indicator of decline.
If comps are meant to show off a bunch of artists' work, and the comps suck, what does that say about the artists? and the scene as a whole?
im going to be honest i dont know how to finish writing that i just want to update the rest of the site but comps getting really shitty is an outward symptom, or again, indicator, of something inherent to the genre devolving or declining or whatever pretend i wrapped it up really nice ok cya

2026-06-01: Website update: blog, about, banner
In time I will remove this post... the website has undergone just a few changes, particularly
Redone about me
Added blog section
Trying out announcement banner
If you're wondering why there's a bunch of other empty blog posts, it's just so I could see what this section would look like if I filled it out some, and I genuinely plan on doing so later.
An aesthetic overhaul is also, clearly, in order here. If I had the energy I would like to learn how to make a website and stop using google sites but a man can only handle so many things--I have to learn so much going into university, and I've already got art (ehh sorta) and obviously music to deal with.
Anyway in this blog I plan to do more than just talk about my music and the scene, because they suck.
I'd want to put a lot of thoughts, observations, rambling, that I have up here, for two reasons. I don't want to pay for longer posts on twitter just to get banned again, and I like having a blog actually on my website, instead of forcing people to go somewhere else. The simplicity of google sites (no comments, views, likes, or anything) is nice, too.
I've started to find writing down my thoughts to be a really nice peaceful waste of my time so expect more sometime.
