Service. Safety. Stewardship.
Mike Sever brings a unique and highly relevant combination of executive leadership, technical expertise, and hands-on operational experience to the Golden Gate Fire Protection District (GGFPD). A resident of the district since 2020, Mike pairs a deep personal investment in the community with a professional track record that aligns directly with the challenges and opportunities facing local fire protection services.
He holds a B.S. in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University and has built a dynamic career spanning land management, environmental services, business operations, and development. He currently serves as Vice President of Internal Operations at Teren Inc., where he plays a critical role in advancing geospatial analytics to identify and mitigate environmental hazards—such as wildfires and post-fire debris flows—that threaten lives, property, and essential infrastructure. His work directly supports proactive strategies to reduce risk and strengthen community resilience.
Mike’s previous leadership roles include serving as Regional Manager for Layne Christensen Company, where he oversaw complex, multi-state drilling and geotechnical projects, including managing large budgets, contracts, and partnerships. As a former small business owner in both Oklahoma and Colorado, he has demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and a lasting commitment to innovation in service of public and environmental wellbeing.
He understands the importance of balanced budgeting and long-term planning and advocates for strategic investments in modern technology, equipment, and training to enhance firefighter safety and operational efficiency—all while maintaining fiscal responsibility. Mike is also committed to turning planning into action by supporting the effective implementation of the Golden Gate Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).
Mike believes that the fire board must be organized, responsive, and aligned with the values of the community it serves. If elected, he is committed to supporting the Fire Chief, empowering firefighters, and ensuring that residents’ voices are heard across the district.
