Welcome to the third article in our blog series, "ADA 101, the New ADA Holders Guide".
Now that you've purchased ADA, it is crucial to understand how to manage your digital assets effectively. This involves setting up and navigating through an ADA Wallet. This guide aims to assist new users on how to operate an ADA wallet, manage funds, and take necessary safety measures.
Setting Up ADA Wallet:
Cardano offers a couple of official wallets to store and manage ADAs, namely Daedalus and Yoroi. They are secure wallets where you can store your ADA cryptocurrencies and participate in the Cardano network by staking.
Download and Install: Visit the official Cardano wallet website and download the software. Select your operating system, and then the installer will download. Run this installer to setup your wallet.
Create a new Wallet: Once installed, start the wallet, select 'create a new wallet', and create a password.
Secure wallet recovery phrase: The wallet will provide you with a wallet recovery phrase. This phrase will help you recover your wallet if you lose access or need to restore it. Write this down in a secure place and never share it with anyone.
Managing Funds:
Adding funds: To add ADA to your wallet, you need to copy your wallet's public address and use it when buying ADA from exchanges. Paste this address in the corresponding line on the exchange site, choose the amount to withdraw and confirm.
Withdrawing funds: To withdraw or transfer ADA, you will need to know the receiver's public address. Enter this into your wallet, decide on the amount to send and confirm the transaction.
Safety Measures:
• Backup your Wallet: Always have access to your wallet recovery phrase. It is the only way to recover your funds if something happens to your device.
• Regularly update Your Wallet: Wallet updates come with safety improvements. Always ensure your wallet is up to date.
• Don't share personal data: Never share your recovery phrase or password with anyone.
Navigating through ADA wallets can be tricky at first. Take your time to understand the process, and always consider security as your priority. Stay tuned for our next article, where we will discuss short-term and long-term ADA investment strategies and weigh its benefits.
