Step 4 - Record

  • In this step we are going to record a backing track using the midi file created in Step 3 and the quick record feature on the keyboard.
  • Before recording, we select the keyboard style if not using a built-in style and we also select the multi-pad and voices we intend to use.
  • TIP: It is a good idea to set up a registration to save the style setup.
  • Select Midi Record on your keyboard and then select Quick Recording (pics show the screens on a Genos keyboard). The keyboard is now ready to record.
  • Play back the midi file from the computer. Recording will start automatically. Chords and commands will be triggered as programmed into the song file.
  • Play any solos and use any other keyboard features to enhance the backing track.
  • When playback ends, press the stop button on the keyboard to end recording.
  • Recording will end automatically if you have a "Style Stop" command in the midi file.
  • We now have a complete backing track but without any lyrics..
  • Save the recording and copy the midi file to the computer.
  • We now have to export the lyrics from the song file. Proceed to step 5.
