Supporting minority and underrepresented students during important educational transitions!
Join our conference filled with talks, activities, and workshops!
Goal: The Mid-American Math Alliance (MAMA) region aims to address the critical transition stages of students within the mathematical and statistical sciences degrees by focusing on supporting minority and underrepresented students during important educational shifts. Through this conference, MAMA endeavors to guide students navigating the transition from community colleges and smaller institutions entering graduate programs.
Some expectations:
Provide feedback on what students need to do in order to be prepared for grad school (for instance: if they need to participate in REUs, or take particular classes)
Get information about what to do with a math degree
A broad overview of what mathematicians and statisticians do
Guide them through decision-making process regarding graduate programs and career options
Mission: We aspire to leave a lasting impact on the academic, social, and professional landscapes, advocating for diversity, inclusivity, and knowledge dissemination within the broader community.
