EC-Licensed Freelance Coach & Trainer
Supporting riders and horses across the Ottawa–Gatineau region through classical foundation training, individualized coaching, and practical, horse-centered development.
40 years of experience developing confident riders and balanced horses.
Mickey is an Equestrian Canada–licensed coach with 40 years of experience training horses and coaching riders across disciplines and levels. Her approach emphasizes supple responsiveness, harmony, and correct foundational development, helping riders build partnerships that are balanced, confident, and rewarding.
Every horse-and-rider combination is unique. Mickey’s programs are tailored to individual goals, learning styles, and stages of development to create effective, lasting progress both in and out of the arena.
With extensive experience developing young horses, supporting competitive riders, and helping clients build structure and confidence, Mickey is known for practical coaching that adapts to real-world situations while maintaining strong classical principles.
Freelance coaching meets riders and horses where they are rather than requiring them to fit into one facility, one program, or one way of doing things.
Working across different barns and environments allows coaching to remain inclusive, adaptable and individualized. This includes supporting riders developing young horses from the ground up, helping build confidence and structure after a horse purchase or program transition, or collaborating alongside other coaches and equine professionals.
Many clients are experienced horse people looking to refine existing skills and continue progressing while balancing horses with work, family, school, finances, and travel distances.
At its core, freelance coaching is about access, continuity, and connection - helping horses and riders move forward in a way that is realistic, inclusive, and meaningful.

FOR SALE: This beautiful 10-year-old, 16.3-hand dark bay OTTB mare is a true people horse - affectionate, friendly, and loves attention - and a barn favourite.
Noticing sensitivity under-saddle and farrier work behind; she has vertebrae behind the saddle that are close together but not touching - X-rays available. She can be ridden lightly if allowed to use a relaxed or long frame. She is currently fully shod and lives out 24/7 in a small herd.
She is best suited as a paddock companion, light recreational riding horse (light flatwork or trails), or a surrogate. Owner would consider a trade for a very similar horse.
Her papers are in hand. Registered with The Jockey Club, she was born in Kentucky and later sold to Canada. She won two 6.5-furlong races - one at Century Mile (AB), the other at Woodbine (ON) in 2019.
A true performance horse, Hallstatt is a 17.1hh, 8 yr old Hanoverian gelding by Harvard (Hohenstein x Cardinal xx).
This beautiful black-brown horse competing at 2nd level, schooling at 3rd level, is exceptional for handling, has three athletic gaits, and an amazing work ethic and disposition. He is naturally forward and nicely responsive to the aids. He would be perfectly suited for a tall Young Rider who’s interested in producing their own FEI horse or for a pro looking for a horse ready to advance up the levels.
