Michaela (aka Mickey), an Equestrian Canada-licensed coach, brings over 30 years of experience in training horses and coaching riders to achieve their full potential. Her philosophy emphasizes developing supple responsiveness through a balanced and harmonious partnership. Each session is personalized to meet the unique needs of the horse-and-rider combination, ensuring progress that is both effective and rewarding.
Raised on a small breeding farm in the Ottawa Valley, Mickey developed her equestrian talent from an early age. By the age of five, she was riding, and by her late teens, she was backing, training, competing, and tending to up to a dozen horses. Riding her family’s homebred 14.2 hh Appaloosa, Johnny LeBeau, Mickey achieved multiple National Dressage titles, competing in London, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, often outperforming imported warmbloods, earning respect and recognition in the competitive Dressage arena.
Coaching began in 1986, leading to the training of hundreds of horses and riders across various disciplines and levels. This coaching reflects a caring and intuitive approach, supporting riders with the skills and confidence to excel. Training with German riding master Ed Rothkranz and collaboration with international professionals, including Olympic Dressage rider Yvonne Losos de Muñiz, added to the depth of experience.
Mickey specializes in developing happy, confident horses that respond lightly and willingly to their riders, fostering a harmonious partnership. Renowned for her commitment, dedication, and elegant riding style, she brings a unique blend of skill and passion to every training session. Mickey resides near Gatineau Park with her two sons, Lauchlan and Carson, and her dog, Miller.
