Kristen Engels serves as the Manager of Peer Support Programs at Schoolcraft College, where she oversees a team of 50–60 student employees who provide academic and peer support services across campus. Her areas of responsibility include the Bradner Library Service Desk, the Learning Center’s peer tutoring and writing support programs, and the Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Leader program (Schoolcraft’s peer-facilitated academic support model similar to Supplemental Instruction (SI)).
A former Schoolcraft College tutor and PAL Leader herself, Kristen began her peer support journey as a student in 2017 before returning to the institution in a professional leadership role in 2025. Since entering higher education in 2022, she has focused on developing student leaders and creating meaningful opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and engagement.
Kristen holds undergraduate degrees in Biology and Chemistry, a Michigan teaching certificate, and a Master of Science in Nonprofit Leadership. In 2025, she was recognized as Schoolcraft College’s Supervisor of the Year for her commitment to student employee development and leadership. Her work centers on the belief that small moments of support can lead to transformative outcomes for students, both inside and outside the classroom.
