Chris Leirstein

Chris Leirstein is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Schoolcraft College with nearly two decades of experience in higher education. Before joining Schoolcraft College in 2022, he spent 18 years at Wayne State University, where he served in a variety of roles. Throughout his career, he has been committed to student-centered, evidence-based instruction and has led numerous initiatives to improve student success, redesign mathematics curricula, mentor new instructors, and expand the use of educational technology. He has participated in multiple National Science Foundation–supported projects, served in several departmental leadership positions, and contributed to statewide and national efforts to improve college mathematics education.
