A collection of small films that I have created during my time in the film production program at Confederation College in Thunder Bay
Going Home was my thesis film that I directed in my second and final year of the program. I was heavily inspired by "The Last of Us" and the film adaption of "The Road". The script went through multiple rewrites in order to be approved for shooting. I scouted the locations where the film would be shot and had help creating the props and wardrobe for my actors. I shot the film entirely outdoors during winter as I felt it would be a nice touch for the theme of my film. The shoot lasted 3 days and there was a day where I needed to get some pick-up shots and B-roll footage.
Don't Let It In was the third film that I have directed. At this point, I wanted to keep making horror films as no one in my class was. Don't Let It In follows a story of a couple during an alien invasion and the girlfriend must survive the night with her partner. This project was the last time I shot on film as we moved on to digital cameras afterward. This film was tricky since we were tasked to include sound into our films for the first time since the previous films I did had none.
The Trail was the first film that I have ever shot. I was really into the horror genre at the time and wanted to make something scary or unsettling for the viewer. The film was shot on a real film camera with real film. While it was nice to be one of the last years to use film before they switched to digital-only, It was a little tricky to figure out what kind of shots I needed since I was limited to only one reel of film.
