Dicey Dome is an endless roguelike survival game where you play as a peasant who is forced to fight in the coliseum for the king's amusement. Fight and platform your way through the hordes of enemies as they continually get stronger thanks to the king's interference.Â
This game was made in 48 hours for the 2022 GMTK Game Jam. The game can be played here.
This was the first real project I've made where I competed the entire game development cycle myself. While I definitely think I've grown a lot since making this game, this project holds a special place in my heart for introducing me to the general flow of game design. Since it was my first time, I had to figure out as I went along how crucial having a proper plan is. Not doing so resulted in me having to do double the work that I normally would be able to do.
I had to learn the importance of receiving constructive criticism and how to convert feedback into actionables that I could use to improve my skillset. Many of the comments made towards the game mentioned the awkward player movement and less than stellar visual design and level elements, all of which I've made efforts to address and grow from.
