Mike Lukaszuk is a computer music composer and researcher currently based in Umeå, Sweden. In addition to exploring areas such as digital music improvisation and generative music, his creative and scholarly output explores the idea of algorithmic music as a means for rediscovering older media.
His work been repeatedly presented at events such as the International Computer Music Conference, ISEA (International Symposium on Electronic Art), The New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, and the Toronto International Electroacoustic Symposium. His writings on computer music can be found in publications such as Emille (the Korean Electroacoustic Music Society), Chroma (Australasian Computer Music Association), and eContact! (Canadian Electroacoustic Community). He won 1st Prize in the Hugh Le Caine Awards – (electroacoustic music category) of the SOCAN Foundation Young Composer Awards. He holds a DMA in Composition from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music and a PhD in Cultural Studies from Queen’s University (Kingston, Canada). He currently works as the Postdoctoral Research Fellow in New Media Art at Umeå University.
