Dance Of Flames op.1
for Concert Band
Grade 3
This composition symbolizes a flame that keeps burning and doesn't stop until the end of the song. The song starts off as the flame slowly getting bigger, and climaxes at 17 and keeps getting worse until 29. As the flame slowly goes out the song gets calmer, until a spark starts all of this chaos all over again. This song ends with chaos of attempting to put out the flame, and finally, the flame goes out for the last time.
Conflicting Visions op.2
for Concert Band
Grade 1.5
"Conflicting Visions" is a musical piece that explores the theme of conflicting ideas and perspectives. It may feature dissonant harmonies and abrupt changes in rhythm and melody to represent the tumultuous nature of conflicting viewpoints. The piece may also incorporate elements of tension and resolution as it grapples with the conflicting ideas and ultimately tries to find a resolution or common ground. It could be a dynamic and emotional work that reflects the complexities of human experience and the challenge of navigating differing perspectives.
March of the Cyclones op.3
for Concert Band
Grade 4
March of the Cyclones is an exciting march that was inspired by John Phillip Sousa's style. This was written for and dedicated to the Eastern View High School Concert Band. March of the Cyclones has a lot of dynamic contrast and differentiating ideas mixed in. It starts in 6/8, and changes to 2/4, for the last half of this march. Overall, it will be an exciting, and fun march for the players, and listeners.
Affectu Tristitae op.4
for 10-part Saxophone Ensemble (Si SSAATTBB Bs)
Grade 3
Affectu Tristitiae was originally written for the 2023 Gulf Coast Saxophone Ensemble for a ‘Call For Scores’ event. ‘Affectu Tristitiae’ translates back to ‘the feeling of sadness’. In this piece, there are many motifs with major-minor cadences, and it reflects that feeling of sadness in its slow-paced movement. Affectu Tristitiae has four different solos written in for Soprano 1, Alto 1, Tenor 1, and Baritone 1. Overall, this piece should feel sad, melancholic, and mournful.
Badinage op.5
for 4-hands Piano
Grade 1.5
Badinage was written for my dearest friends, Samantha and Daniel. This piece is a short but fun piece that focuses on giving off a 'humorous' sound.
Bloom op.6
for SATB Choir (divisi)
Grade 3.5
Bloom was originally written for the Eastern View High School Choir. At the time when this was being composed, my beloved mother had sent me some lyrics that she thought would work for a barbershop, or choir setting. Bloom is a touching choral piece that metaphorically tells the story of a hesitant flower overcoming fear to fully blossom. Through gentle melodies and heartfelt harmonies, the music inspires listeners to pursue their dreams with courage and determination, resonating with anyone navigating uncertainty on their journey to personal growth and fulfillment.
A Journey Through Nature op.7
for Concert Band
Grade 4
A Journey Through Nature is a two-movement concert band work written for the Eastern View High School Concert Band that takes listeners on an evocative journey through the natural world. Through contrasting moods, the piece captures both the haunting mystery and peaceful serenity of nature. The first movement draws us into a dark, eerie forest, full of suspense and tension, while the second movement offers a peaceful, reflective moment while enjoying the true joy of nature. Together, the two movements provide a rich emotional landscape, transporting the listener to two very different, yet equally powerful, natural settings.
A Fallen Kingdom op.8
for Concert Band
Grade 2
A Fallen Kingdom, is my final Concert Band piece before I head off towards college. I wrote this piece for the Floyd T. Binns Middle School 7th & 8th Grade Band over the course of a couple months. A Fallen Kingdom paints a scenic picture of an ancient kingdom that used to thrive, and has been lost to time. As the piece continues, we enter what it was like to be in the ancient kingdom while it was still lively. We come back many, many years in the future to what is now what is only a memory of what it was.

Cyrus The Great
for Concert Band
Grade 4
Karl King dedicated this march to a personal friend, "Cy" Tremain, but he also had the original Cyrus in mind as indicated by the subtitle "Persian March" and by his choice of rhythms and tonality. Cyrus the Great (600?-529 B.C.) founded the Persian Empire (now Iran) by conquering the Medes in 550 B.C. Lydia in 546 B.C. and Babylon in 539 B.C. His warriors were excellent horsemen who carried light hide-covered shields and were highly skilled with bow and arrow. They conquered heavily armored troops by their speed and their surprise attacks. When Cyrus acquired Palestine he allowed the Jews to return there and to rebuild their temple in Jerusalem. He was killed in battle in 529 B.C. and buried at Pasargadae where the tomb ruins still remain.
