Hello everyone, my name is Alan Vu and the picture on the left would be that of me and my family.
This project was very interesting, motivating and inspiring as it gave me a deeper look into the lives of my parents, one who grew up in a war torn country, and another who grew up as a refugee in the states. In addition, I was able to interview a friend of mine who grew up in Vietnam, and he detailed the state of Vietnam today. My mom's story taught me how to appreciate family as that was the core of her story, and all she had growing up. My dad's story taught me the importance of working hard because once he stepped outside Vietnam he had to work hard not just for himself but for his family. And lastly but not least, my friends story really showed me the beauty of Vietnam today, and how it important it is to seek out stories and experiences not just for the thrill of it or to learn from past experiences, but to also create bonds. And as the famous Vietnamese saying goes, “When eating a fruit, think of the person who planted the tree” or rather Ăn quả nhớ kẻ trồng cây.
Enjoy
