How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
If you want one device that flips between private over-ear listening and a shareable speaker, choose MHTEC 2-in-1; if you need wired in-ear monitors with a portable DAC for serious, detail-first listening, choose HIFIXAUDIO SIMGOT EW300.
• MHTEC 2-in-1 — biggest strength: a genuine two-in-one design. Over-ear headphone mode for private listening, then twist the earcups to turn the same unit into a Bluetooth speaker for the room.
• MHTEC 2-in-1 — biggest trade-off: it is a convenience-first gadget, not a reference monitor. Wireless-only sound (Bluetooth 5.3 or 3.5 mm wired), sound isolation rather than active noise cancellation, and speaker mode drains the battery faster than headphone mode.
• HIFIXAUDIO SIMGOT EW300 — biggest strength: a triple-driver in-ear monitor (dynamic + planar + piezoelectric ceramic per earpiece) paired with a portable USB-C DAC amp with a multi-band EQ module. Serious hardware for people who want to shape their sound.
• HIFIXAUDIO SIMGOT EW300 — biggest trade-off: it is wired and it is two pieces. You need a USB-C source, and there is no speaker mode, no headband, no sharing your music with a room.
• Pick the MHTEC 2-in-1 if you want one flexible device for commuting, study, travel and casual sharing.
• Pick the HIFIXAUDIO SIMGOT EW300 if you already own a phone or laptop and want a wired, tuneable, detail-focused listening setup.
The MHTEC 2-in-1 is built around one idea: give you two ways to listen from a single object. In headphone mode it is a conventional over-ear pair with dual 40 mm dynamic drivers, a 20 Hz–20,000 Hz frequency range, 32 ohm impedance and 98 dB sensitivity. Rotate the earcups and it becomes a Bluetooth speaker you can point at a table, a picnic blanket or a group of friends. That twist mechanism doubles as the volume control — clockwise for louder, counterclockwise for quieter — with button controls alongside it.
Buy it if you want one device that covers private listening, speaker duty, calls and card playback, and you like the idea of a gift-ready package for a student, teen or traveller.
Skip it if you care most about absolute detail, soundstage or tuning. There is no active noise cancellation here — just sound isolation — and the three EQ modes (Bass Boost, Balanced, High Definition) are preset flavours rather than fine-grained control. If you mostly listen critically at a desk, this is not the tool.
HIFIXAUDIO SIMGOT EW300: Who It's For
The HIFIXAUDIO SIMGOT EW300 is a different animal entirely. Each earpiece packs three driver types: one dynamic driver, one planar driver and one piezoelectric ceramic driver. Balancing three different acoustic technologies in one shell is hard engineering, and the result is described as a tri-matrix acoustic structure built for detail and separation rather than volume. This is an in-ear monitor, so it seals into your ear canal — expect that plugged-in, isolating feel rather than the open comfort of an over-ear headband.
The bundle's second half matters just as much. The KZ AM02 is a portable USB-C DAC decoding amplifier with a studio-grade EQ module offering multi-band control over bass, mids and treble. In plain terms: you can shape the sound to your taste instead of accepting a factory curve — lift the low end for electronic music, tame it for acoustic or classical, nudge the treble to taste. It connects over USB-C to smartphones, tablets and laptops and works plug-and-play, with a USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter path for the earphones.
Buy it if you already listen from a USB-C phone or laptop, you want to hear layers and texture in your music, and you enjoy tweaking EQ. It suits long listening sessions at a desk, focused album listening and anyone stepping up from basic earbuds.
Skip it if you want wireless freedom, a speaker you can share, or a one-piece solution. This setup is wired, it is two components, and it asks you to care about how your source sounds. If you mostly listen while moving around the house, that tether will annoy you.
• Best for sharing music with a group → MHTEC 2-in-1. Twist the earcups and it becomes a speaker; the EW300 cannot do this at all.
• Best for critical, detail-focused listening → HIFIXAUDIO SIMGOT EW300. Triple-driver IEMs plus a dedicated DAC amp are purpose-built for resolution.
• Best for sound customisation → HIFIXAUDIO SIMGOT EW300. Multi-band EQ on the AM02 beats three fixed presets.
• Best for battery life and untethered use → MHTEC 2-in-1. Around 18 hours in headphone mode, no cable to your phone.
• Best for hands-free calls → MHTEC 2-in-1. A built-in microphone is part of the design; the EW300 setup is for listening.
• Best for phone-free playback → MHTEC 2-in-1. The TF card slot plays music without any paired device.
• Best for travel and gifting → MHTEC 2-in-1. 230 g, folding speaker trick, carrying case and gift-ready packaging.
• Best for desk and home listening on a USB-C device → HIFIXAUDIO SIMGOT EW300. Plug-and-play amplification with no charging routine to manage.
• Best if you hate wires → MHTEC 2-in-1. Bluetooth 5.3 versus a permanently wired chain from source to ear.
In my opinion, these two barely compete — they solve different problems. If you want one versatile object that does headphones, a speaker, calls and card playback, I would buy the MHTEC 2-in-1; it is the more flexible device for everyday life. If your goal is the best possible sound from a phone or laptop and you enjoy tuning it yourself, I would buy the HIFIXAUDIO SIMGOT EW300 bundle instead. Neither replaces the other. Decide which need is louder in your week, then commit.
They are not substitutes. The MHTEC gives you wireless over-ear listening plus a speaker mode; the EW300 gives you wired, tuneable in-ear detail. "Worth it" depends entirely on which of those you actually need.
No. It is a wired setup — in-ear monitors connected through the KZ AM02 DAC amp, which uses a USB-C interface for phones, tablets and laptops. There is no wireless mode listed.
In speaker mode it plays your music out loud, but MHTEC lists roughly 6 hours of playtime in that mode versus about 18 hours in headphone mode. It is a handy bonus mode, not a full-time party speaker.
The MHTEC 2-in-1. It has a built-in microphone for hands-free calls, Bluetooth 5.3 with roughly 10 metres of range, and no cable to your phone. The EW300 bundle is designed for listening, not calling.
