The Millennial Global Youth Foundation (MGY), in collaboration with the Formosa Association of Student Culture Ambassadors DC Chapter (FASCA DC), is proud to sponsor the Rockville 10K/5K Charity Run and introduce Team Taiwan to this exciting event.
The charity run was organized by the City of Rockville in partnership with the Montgomery County Road Runners Club (MCRRC). Participants of all abilities were welcome to run along the streets of the King Farm community. The event served as a fundraiser for the City’s recreation fund, offering a scenic yet challenging course.
More than 1,500 runners and supporters showed up for this year’s race. Not only did Team Taiwan’s runners take part in the 10K/5K runs, but the FASCA DC team also arranged a cultural booth to enthusiastically support the Team Taiwan runners while raising awareness about Taiwan’s rich culture and the learning of Mandarin (TCML). The delightful Formosan Bear mascot at the photo booth extended warm greetings to both adults and children and cheered for Team Taiwan.
In addition to supporting the charity run, FASCA DC students took the initiative to promote Taiwan’s tourism. They prepared informative brochures and interactive Taiwan Fun Fact trivia, which included its stunning landscapes, historical landmarks, delicious snacks, bubble tea, and vibrant night markets. The students also shared personal stories and experiences of their visits to Taiwan, providing a more personal and engaging perspective.
The MGY Foundation and FASCA DC take immense pride in their involvement in the Rockville 10K/5K Charity Run. Team Taiwan is committed to fostering future opportunities to support such events and further promoting fitness and wellness within the community. They also aim to continue their efforts in promoting Taiwan’s rich culture and tourism, hoping to inspire more people to explore and appreciate the beauty of Taiwan.
