In the game, Samus obtains a new suit to handle her Phazon corruption named the Phazon Enhancement Device (PED).[7] A new feature that makes use of Wii Remote functionality allows the player to lock on and strafe around an enemy while simultaneously firing anywhere on screen. (This is called Lock on/ Free aim.)[8] This can be changed in the options so that players can choose the previous method of locking on targets. The Morph Ball also returns, along with the Spring Ball, which can be used by flicking the Wii Remote up.[9] According to Retro Studios, the more intuitive control causes Corruption to be less difficult and faster-paced than Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. Scanning has also become easier to perform.[10] Additionally, a new checkpoint system allows players to restart immediately at certain points in the game between Save Stations, a feature not implemented in the series previously.

Samus first travels to Bryyo, the abandoned home of the extinct Bryyonians and now home of the Reptilicus, where she finds out to her horror that the Phazon corruption initially thought to be benign can cause her body to overload with Phazon energy, which could eventually drive her insane, and she must dispel it to prevent further corruption. She then learns that Rundas fell to the Phazon corruption and battles him in self-defense. Rundas, upon defeat, gets impaled on his own ice structures and Dark Samus flies in and absorbs him. After acquiring his Ice Missiles and the Ship Missiles that allow her to destroy the shield generator around the Seed, she enters the Seed and fights Mogenar, a corrupted Mogenar-class War Golem.

She then heads to SkyTown, Elysia, the flying city created by the Chozo, which is populated by sentient robots. She manages to cure Aurora Unit 217 of its corruption virus but then the now-corrupted Ghor attacks and disables the Aurora, forcing Samus to defeat him, watch as Dark Samus arrives to absorb him, and acquire his Plasma Beam to repair the Aurora. The Aurora then helps her build a Theronian Bomb to let her destroy the Leviathan's shield, allowing Samus to fly in inside, where she fights Helios, the corrupted commander of the Elysian robots. Helios explodes and Samus is further corrupted.

The final impacted planet is a Space Pirate Homeworld, where the corruption has spread so quickly that the planet itself is becoming pure Phazon. Unfortunately, the Seed there is so heavily protected that only a single cargo ship is allowed to reach it, but Samus is unable to continue due to the planet's Acid Rain. After briefly partnering with a Federation Marine to get the Hazard Shield, the trooper attempts to kill her and then reveals herself to be Gandrayda. Samus defeats her and then watches helplessly as Dark Samus absorbs her. After equipping herself with more gear, Fleet Admiral Castor Dane contacts Samus saying that Federation is planning to lead an invasion of the Pirate Homeworld, but the planet is protected by a massive planetary shield. Samus uses her newly acquired Nova Beam to disable the shield allowing the Federation begin the all-out attack on the Space Pirates.

Samus herself leads a team of Demolition Troopers to destroy the security door to the Skyway leading to the Pirate Homeworld's Seed, where Omega Ridley awaits. After Ridley's defeat, Samus's corruption reaches a critical point, where she is now virtually glowing with Phazon.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is the tenth installment in the Metroid series and the third game of the Metroid Prime series, the last of the original trilogy. The game was developed by Retro Studios and released for the Wii in 2007 and Japan in 2008. Corruption is the fifth game in the Metroid timeline and takes place six months after the events of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.[1] The story revolves around Phazon and its corruption of the galaxy and Samus Aran herself. A Preview was available for purchase on the Wii Shop Channel a few weeks before the game's release. Overall the game lead to very positive reviews and turned out to be a critical success. The game has sold over one million copies worldwide.

The last metroid is in captivity. The galaxy is at peace.

Samus spoke, we all know. She never spoke in the originals because there wasn't really anyone to talk to. I think she didn't necessarily need a voice actor, but she did at least need a way to communicate.

She communicated in sign language. DUH!

If there is one thing I can say about the Prime 3 experience and sum up how it is different from Prime 1 and 2 and the other metroid games is . . .

The experience retains a perfect balance of free exploration while pointing you in the right direction. They do a great job of making you not really get lost but at the same time you can easily get lost in the exploration of the worlds given to you.

Does that make sense? lol.

PROTIP: The "The last metroid is in captivity" voice was Dan Owsen of NOA.

I'd like to think that in the future or the galaxy where the Metroid games take place or whatever, Samus's gender is irrelevant.

Oh god. What has Retro done to Metroid's storyline?

It had a storyline? Last I saw the series was basically "Bounty hunter goes to Planet X, kills stuff, blows up Planet X...Then she goes to another Planet Y, kills stuff, manages not to blow up Planet Y..." I think it's time to take off the rose-tinted glasses... =3

There isn't a big, detailed plot, but every game has tied into the previous one. Metroid II was motivated by the pirates' failed attempts at using metroids as weapons in the first game. It's not like Samus was just cruisin' around randomly picking planets to go kill stuff on for shits and giggles.

I love this game more than any other game in the stack and I really like the soundtrack for fighting rundas. I dont like how the download sign flashes and if i run over it with my courser my whole computer gets slow but back to the soundtrack. Great music, im going to look up prime 1 and 2 soundtracks and just keep up the good work. thanks for giving us the music.

Alright I've been reading alot from other people in a different thread of certain people saying that MP3 Corruption was a *****ty game and the worst out of the prime series. I completely disagree. So to whomever thinks that MP3 Corruption was the worst game in the trilogy, please explain why you thought it was that bad. I'm really curious to know.

For years, we have played as the famous bounty hunter hired by the so-called Galactic Federation, went on planets alone, with little to no IN GAME story (any real story could only be found on the instruction booklets or back of the game box). In the first Prime game, Retro was the FIRST to reveal Samus' origin in a Metroid game (the chozo caring for her and whatnot).

And in the 3rd game, Retro actually offered us the chance to get a glimpse of the Galactic Federation, the existence of OTHER awesome looking Bounty Hunters (for a time, i honestly believed she was the only one in the galaxy, and i guess Prime hunters was the first to prove me wrong), and give us a nice developed in-game story, and you're complaining bout that? And remember, this game, being on the Wii, demands to be user friendly, so a little more action and slightly different atmosphere is to be expected (though i still felt the metroid ambiance throughout the game, did you at least explore every planet or did you quit right after the first Norion mission?).

Okay. The creature you want to keep an eye out for are the Phazon Puffers. They drain phazon from you to power their attack, reducing your corruption in the process. However, if they hit you with the attack, you wind up gaining more corruption than they first removed. A valid strategy then becomes to let the phazon puffers charge up, and then kill the creatures or dodge their attacks, reducing your phazon with each cycle.

You can also be proactive about this final segment by not traveling to Phaaze until you have the maximum amount of energy tanks. While it's not shown in terms of numbers, the more energy tanks you have, the larger your "effective" health, and thus the more corruption you are able to withstand.

As Samus travels from planet to planet, exploring different worlds to thwart this evil plan, players must seek upgrades for her and her ship, to help defeat Dark Samus and restore peace to the universe. A brand new upgrade named Phazon Enhancement Device outfitted by Galactic Federation is available for the first time in Metorid Prime 3: Corruption giving Samus extra strength to fight enemies in Hypermode. However super strength comes at a price - if players remain in Hypermode too long they will become corrupted by the Phazon and if they don't vent their corruption in time it could mean death. 17dc91bb1f
