Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that MTA Metro-North Railroad will operate on a near-normal weekday schedule on Monday following a mudslide in Scarborough on Saturday morning that prevented trains from operating between Tarrytown and Croton-Harmon. To reduce the potential for congestion-related delays, the railroad is adjusting schedules and canceling four of the 158 trains the railroad operates on the line daily, and during peak hours, trains that operate in the reverse-peak direction will operate express between Tarrytown and Croton-Harmon.

To reduce congestion in the area where tracks are limited, reverse-peak trains will bypass Philipse Manor or Scarborough during the morning and evening rush hours. Customers looking to travel north to those stations in the morning will need to ride a northbound train to Ossining or Croton-Harmon to board a southbound train. Customers looking to travel south from those stations in the evening will need to ride a southbound train to Tarrytown to board a northbound train.

I would like if the Transit applet supported the GTFS data feed from MTA Metro-North Railroad. I tried to enter my local station, as well as Grand Central Terminal (NYC), and while they show up as locations in the Transit app, no schedules show. Here is the API info page from MNRR:

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that required schedule adjustments for certain Harlem Line and Hudson Line trains will take effect on Sunday, June 4, through Saturday, October 7. Most of these temporary schedule changes will be between one and six minutes.

To minimize the disruption, the project will remove one track at a time from service for an uninterrupted period in this three-track area, allowing several maintenance groups to work concurrently. To lessen the potential for rush hour train congestion and delays on this four-mile segment, Metro-North is making a number of temporary schedule changes as follows.

Tom McGuinness, the MTA project executive, said in January that he believed efforts between Amtrak and MTA to recover the blow could bring the project back to its original schedule. But his projection proved to be too hopeful. McGuinness announced on Monday that the recovery plan was unsuccessful and the projected substantial completion has indeed been pushed back to late 2027 from March 2027. tag_hash_109
