Messages ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Messages mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use our App.
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. The Messages app is designed to allow users to read, send, receive, and manage SMS/MMS messages on their device.
1. SMS and MMS Messages
Messages may request access to SMS and MMS functionality in order to operate as a messaging application and, where applicable, as the user's default SMS application.
The App may use SMS/MMS permissions to:
• Read SMS messages on the device
• Send SMS messages
• Receive incoming SMS messages
• Receive MMS messages
• Process incoming messaging notifications
• Display and manage conversations on the device
Your SMS and MMS messages are processed on your device.
We do not upload your SMS or MMS messages to our servers.
We do not sell, rent, or share your SMS/MMS messages with third parties.
Messages sent through the mobile network are transmitted to the recipient through the user's mobile carrier. Such transmission is necessary for SMS/MMS functionality and is not controlled by us.
2. Contacts
The App may request access to contacts so that you can select contacts, display contact names, and compose messages more conveniently.
Contacts are processed on your device for messaging functionality.
We do not upload your contacts to our servers, sell them, or share them with third parties.
3. Photos, Videos and Attachments
The App may support MMS and messaging attachments.
Photos, videos, files, and other attachments selected by the user are processed locally on the device and may be transmitted through the mobile carrier when the user intentionally sends them as part of an MMS or message.
We do not upload your message attachments to our own servers for analytics or advertising purposes.
4. Location Information
The App may request approximate or precise location permissions.
Location is used for the Share Location feature.
Location access is initiated when you choose to use the location-sharing feature in a conversation.
When you choose to share your location, the location information is included in a message and sent through SMS to the recipient selected by you.
We do not use your location for continuous background tracking.
We do not upload your location to our own servers for storage.
You can deny or revoke location permissions at any time through Android device settings.
5. AppMetrica Analytics
The App uses AppMetrica, a third-party analytics and diagnostic service, to help us understand App usage, identify technical problems, and improve App performance.
AppMetrica may process information such as:
• App interactions
• Device or other identifiers
• Approximate location information
• Crash logs
• Diagnostic information
• App and device information
Analytics and diagnostic information may be transmitted to AppMetrica for processing.
AppMetrica data is used for analytics, diagnostics, and improving the functionality and performance of the App.

6. Advertising ID
The App may access the Android Advertising ID or another device identifier used by third-party analytics services.
In our current App configuration, the Advertising ID is used for analytics and measurement purposes.
The App does not display advertisements.
7. Data Collection and Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
The following information may be collected by AppMetrica:
• Approximate location
• App interactions
• Crash logs
• Diagnostic information
• Device or other identifiers
This information is collected for analytics and app functionality purposes.
The App does not upload SMS/MMS messages, contacts, or message attachments to our own servers.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information processed through the App and by our service providers.
Analytics and diagnostic information transmitted to third-party service providers is transmitted using appropriate security measures.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
We do not maintain a server-side database of your SMS/MMS messages, contacts, or message attachments.
Analytics and diagnostic information collected through AppMetrica may be retained according to AppMetrica's applicable policies and our configuration.

10. Permissions Used by the App
The App may request the following Android permissions:
READ_SMS
Used to read SMS messages on the device so that the App can display and manage conversations.
SEND_SMS
Used to send SMS messages when the user chooses to send a message.
RECEIVE_SMS
Used to receive and process incoming SMS messages.
RECEIVE_MMS
Used to receive and process incoming MMS messages.
RECEIVE_WAP_PUSH
Used to receive MMS-related WAP Push notifications required for MMS functionality.
READ_CONTACTS
Used to access contacts on the device so users can select recipients and display contact names.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Used to display messaging notifications on supported Android versions.
ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION
Used to obtain approximate location when the user chooses to use the Share Location feature.
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION
Used to obtain precise location when the user chooses to use the Share Location feature.
11. No Advertising
The Messages App does not display advertisements.
We do not use advertising networks to display ads in the App.
The Advertising ID, where available, may be processed for analytics and measurement as described above.
12. Default SMS Application
If you choose to make Messages your default SMS application, Android may provide the App with access to SMS/MMS functionality required to provide the default messaging experience.
You can change your default SMS application through Android settings.
13. Third-Party Services
The App uses AppMetrica for analytics and diagnostic purposes.
Third-party services may process information according to their own privacy policies.

14. Children's Privacy
The App is not specifically directed toward children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through our own servers.
15. Your Choices
You can control Android permissions through your device settings.
You may grant or revoke access to:
• SMS
• Contacts
• Notifications
• Approximate location
• Precise location
Some App features may not work if the required permissions are denied.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
