No idea why but I can't change the sound for Google Messages. I can change the notification sound for individual conversations but not all incoming messages. If I use Verizon's Messaging app, I can change the sound. This is on a S21 Ultra with Android 12 and latest August Security patch.

To give this contact the option to override a Focus, so any important messages can get through, turn on Emergency Bypass. You might turn it on for a family member, caretaker, or colleague, for example.

Hello everyone, does anyone know why Android Auto used to play my text notification sounds, but doesn't now? When I receive a text, I get the notification in the bottom right of the screen. When I tap the notification, it shows that whoever has texted me is muted. I can unmute them, and it will play my notification for the rest of my car ride. However, it resets itself after I turn the car off. It is really important to me to hear the notification sounds because I drive that car for work, and I miss messages from my coworkers and bosses because I pay very little attention to the screen while I'm driving.

Yes I have the same issue, message notifications make a sound when unlocked, but not when locked, Lock Screen does not even light up when notification received. If I wake it up the notification is there.

I took out my very old iPhone se (1st gen) and started using it again, it is supposed to be compatible with iOs 15. When I get text or email it vibrates very gently, like I can feel it if I'm holding it in my hand, but no notification sounds, no ringtone when I get a call.

Like many of you, my notifications volumes was minuscule compared to the ringer volume on my iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 15.0.2.Then I found the following solution suggested (I don't remember where I found it):

I have the same issue with notification sounds not working unless the phone is unlocked. However, the notification still sounds on my watch. When I turn off Bluetooth, the notification sound works just fine.

I am having the same problem. I bought the phone last week and I am having this issue. After hours on the phone with tech support, it turns out BLUETOOTH is the problem. When BLUETOOTH is OFF, the notifications ring and vibrate as normal whether the screen is off or on. When BLUETOOTH is ON, once the screen locks, I hear nor see any indication of notifications. This is not a solution more so an identification as to where the problem originates. Having Bluetooth off permanently is not feasible.

I think I just fixed it. I went to the top right corner where the wifi and battery icons are and held and dragged down slightly until the control panel came up. The volume was on mute. I put my finger on it and slowly dragged up so that it was no longer on mute. When I got my next messenger message, on the closed screen, the notification sounded. I don't know if it will help anyone, but it has worked on mine.

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. To get started, have you ensured that all the settings for the apps are set up correctly using the 'Related Article', Use notifications on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support that was shared on this thread?

For this particular issue, we'd recommend ensuring that you have a notification sound selected for the apps you're not hearing notifications for using the steps under the "Change alert styles " section.

If still having issues, we'd also recommend checking for any Focus features that may be enabled and preventing notifications from being received as expected. For help with checking your Focus settings, check out this next link here: Use Focus on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Thank you for your response. I tried changing the focus settings as well, and removing the do not disturb mode, but that still did not help. It seems as long as my screen is off or locked, it does not notify for any of the apps notifications. But if the screen is already active and unlocked, it shows me every notification with the sound.

I just activated my new iPhone 14 Pro Max about a week ago and I am having the same issue. My phone is not sending the notification sounds when I have messages as well as many other apps while in the Lock Screen. All the settings are correct. I see I am not alone with this problem, when will there be a fix, you pay too much money for these expensive phones and it cannot provide you the basic feature you need on a daily basis.

Same problem with me and my 14 Pro Max. I can hear audio from notifications if the screen is unlocked. If locked, silence for most notifications. Even my alarm app, which normally plays audio, only works when the screen is unlocked. When I first got the phone a couple weeks ago, it was working, but after updating to 16.0.2, it quit working. Although I do not have any disturb mode set or an active focus window and the ring/silent switch is in the correct position (I can hear the phone ring when I'm called), the notifications are silent. I think it's a bug.

If it's the design that the phone passes the notification to a smartwatch, I guess that makes sense, and I can try to live with that. But being on Garmin, I don't think I have the same notification options on my watch. But I prefer the Garmin watch because I use a Garmin head unit for cycling that connects to sensors on my bike. So I'm already in that ecosystem, and I like the training metrics.

Since upgrading my Macbook Pro 2019 to Monterey, I've been receiving intermittent text chimes (the default message audible notification) despite having disabled this in preferences. It doesn't happen for every single incoming message, but roughly 1 in 5. For whatever reason, this sound scares my dog, and it's getting really irritating that I can't disable the sound fully. I would like to continue receiving banner notifications visually. I obviously don't get the chime if the computer is muted, but it'd be cool if I could, you know, listen to music.

I would even settle for changing the message notification sound to a different sound (I did this easily on my iPhone) but I can't find that setting either. I'm stumped and my dog is miserable. Please help.

Hi, I've had the same problem. I've sorted it through opening text 'messages' - settings - notifications - then press 'and hold (2 or 3 seconds)' New Messages - (release and further options appear) - check that 'alert' is active - check that ' sound' isn't silent (set your own message alert tone) - and lock screen is 'show content'.. All sorted

I'm having the same issue, received the phone yesterday and have wasted so much time trying anything and everything. I did move some sounds from Zedge into internal storage hoping that would help. Followed this old S10 link with hopes anything would work ( -S10/How-to-change-notificaiton-sound-to-custom-sound/td-p...) I can now see the notification sound I moved in, I hear it when I click on it in the list of sounds but still nothing when a text comes in.

I have been having this exact issue as well. It doesn't happen every day, some days all notifications work fine with sound, some days only a few apps function, some days none work with sound. It is so annoying and frustrating, I'm constantly having to restart phone because this is the only thing that seems to work fully. All my settings are reviewed constantly and nothing should be making it operate with no sound. Ridiculous Samsung!!

Go into settings for each app eg, messages,Email etc . Open notifications. press and hold new messages. If "sound" shows as silent set required sound and should then be OK. Worked for me after many hours of head scratching.

If that does not solve the problem, with vPilot running, open your Windows Sounds Volume Mixer. Check the volume level for vPilot. Increase the vPilot volume and see if you can hear the sounds (it seems simple, but you'd be amazed at how many times that has happened to folks, after a power outage, etc., and they (me too) forgot to turn on the speakers until they didn't hear what they expected to hear ).

If your selected audio device is externally powered, such as external speakers, check to make sure they are on and the volume level is up. Increase the speakers volume and see if you can hear the sounds.

I don't know ... I'll test it out to make sure it's not a bug in vPilot. It's certainly possible that the alert sounds have never worked in host mode and nobody mentioned it because they just get the alerts on the remote. I'll take a look and get back to you.

I can hear RadioMessage.wav when there is a message on frequency but when I receive a new Private Message I hear PrivateMessage.wav instead of NewMessage.wav.

Text notification sounds work fine when a text message is closed. If Ihave the text string open and a new one comes in, no sound. This worked before. Now, I have to constantly watch the phone to see when a new one comes in or constantly close the message.

This is absolutely ridiculous. There is no purpose to have NO notification if the texting app is open. It is a waste of battery use having to keep it open so you don't miss a text. Is this a ploy to get all customers to buy Iphones???? I will switch to a different carrier before I pay for a new phone. With all the better deals out there from other carries this is a stupid move on ATT' s part.

Has anyone found a fix around this problem, or different message ap that will give notification? I'll be switching phones and carriers for this when the contract is up. Text messages are an important method of communication these days. I can not be missing messages. Its a shame some pin head in a position of authority made the decision to allow this to happen.

This is a terrible inconvenience. Please put it back, I am missing text messages and I need to be able to work effectively. I've switched from iPhone to Samsung because the phone got such a good rating - I'm ready to switch back to iPhone.

You can change the sounds per account by opening the account settingsĀ  NotificationsĀ  Open system notification settings. Then press one of the channels belonging to one of the accounts and change the sound there. e24fc04721
