Welcome to Messages, an SMS app developed by MobileGallery.
This Privacy Policy describes how our app handles user information, permissions, and third‑party services.
We take your privacy seriously. Messages does not collect, store, or share any personal data unless explicitly required to provide essential app functions (such as SMS or notifications, which operate locally on your device).
This policy covers all users of the Messages app available on Google Play.
Messages does not collect or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII) from users. All messages, contacts, and related data are processed locally on your device and are not uploaded to external servers.
We do not:
Access or store your personal information online.
Collect background data or metadata about SMS content.
Share message content with third parties.
Analytics and ad services from trusted providers (like Firebase and AdMob) may collect generalized, non‑identifiable usage data as explained below.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), processing of data (if any occurs through third‑party SDKs such as ads or analytics) is based on:
Your consent, given through app usage and personalized ads settings.
Legitimate interests, such as improving functionality, performance tracking, and ensuring app stability.
You may withdraw consent anytime through your device settings or opt‑out of personalized ads through your Google account settings.
The app uses the following Android permissions only to operate core features. None of these permissions transmit your data externally.
Telephony Feature – Declares the ability to use SMS functionality; compatible with non‑SIM devices.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS – Shows message notifications; no personal data collected.
READ_SMS / WRITE_SMS / SEND_SMS / RECEIVE_SMS / SMS_RECEIVED – Allow reading, sending, and receiving SMS messages. Used only when Messages is your default SMS app.
READ_CONTACTS – Used to display contact names and photos. Data stays on your device.
READ_PHONE_STATE – Helps verify SIM status for message sending functionality.
WAKE_LOCK – Keeps device awake temporarily while processing SMS or notifications.
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM / SET_ALARM – Used for scheduled SMS sending.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED – Ensures scheduled messages and listeners restart after reboot.
All message data, drafts, and contacts are stored locally on your device’s storage or through Android‑managed databases.
No message content, phone numbers, or contacts are uploaded or shared externally.
We use standard Android OS‑level security features to protect stored data.
Although we take measures to protect information, no digital platform is entirely risk‑free. You control your security through device settings and permissions.
We integrate several third‑party libraries and SDKs to enhance app performance and reliability. These tools may process minimal technical data as explained below:
Firebase Analytics – Collects app usage data and engagement insights (non‑identifiable).
Firebase Firestore – Cloud database for syncing non‑personal data if enabled.
Firebase Crashlytics – Collects crash logs to improve app stability.
Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) – Manages notification delivery.
Firebase Performance Monitoring – Tracks app performance and loading times.
Kotlin Coroutines, Gson, Hilt, AndroidX KTX Libraries – Used for internal processing only; these do not collect user data.
Lottie – Displays animations locally without data transmission.
Proto DataStore & Protobuf Lite – Used for local message drafts and scheduled SMS storage.
Android‑SMS MMS Library – Handles SMS/MMS processing locally.
Each of these third‑party tools complies with their own privacy policies, accessible from their official websites.
Messages displays ads through:
Google AdMob
Google AdX
Facebook Audience Network
These services may use anonymous advertising identifiers (such as Google’s AAID) to display relevant ads.
Analytics via Firebase Analytics helps understand how users interact with the app but does not identify who you are.
You can manage your advertising preferences or opt out of personalized ads via:
Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization.
We do not use cookies directly. However, third‑party analytics and advertising SDKs may use similar tracking technologies (e.g., cookies or unique IDs) to measure app performance and ad effectiveness.
We process only non‑identifiable app analytics and technical data such as:
App version and device model.
Crash logs and network request timing (via Firebase).
Ad interactions for monetization and performance reporting.
No SMS, contact, or phone data is transmitted or processed by us.
All SMS‑related data is stored on your own device.
You may delete message history or cached data anytime through your device’s settings or directly within the Messages app interface.
Analytics and ad data handled by third‑party platforms follow their respective retention policies (e.g., Firebase and Google AdMob).
Messages offers in‑app purchases and subscriptions handled securely through the Google Play Billing system.
Payments are managed by Google Play, not by MobileGallery.
We do not access or store your payment information.
Subscription management, renewals, and cancellations are available through your Google Play Account Settings.
Some purchases (like “Remove Ads” or “Premium Lifetime”) unlock permanent features.
If you are an EU/EEA user, you have the right to:
Access the personal data third‑party platforms (like Firebase) may process.
Request correction or deletion of any such data.
Object to data processing for analytics or ads.
Withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.
Requests relating to Firebase or AdMob data can be handled via your Google Account’s privacy settings.
California residents may request information on what data third‑party analytics collect.
You may opt out of data sharing for targeted advertising through your device’s ad settings.
Messages itself does not sell personal information.
We honor “Do Not Track” browser and device signals where applicable. However, third‑party advertisers may operate their own tracking systems beyond our control. You can disable ad personalization through your Google Account.
Any data transmitted via Firebase or ad SDKs may be stored on secure servers located in different countries (including the United States). These services comply with international data protection frameworks such as GDPR and Privacy Shield (where applicable).
Messages does not download or install any external code or apps. All updates are distributed only via the Google Play Store, ensuring app authenticity and integrity.
Our app may display ads or links that direct you to external websites or apps. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies separately.
Messages is intended for users aged 18 and above.
We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal data from children under 13 years of age. If you believe such data has been provided, please contact us to delete it.
We may disclose limited information (if ever available) as required by law, regulation, or valid court order, ensuring compliance with official investigations.
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Any changes will be posted within the app or on the official listing page on Google Play, along with the updated date at the top.
Continued use of the app after updates means you accept the revised policy.
