I have set up MP3 ringtones for both incoming calls and text messages on my new Galaxy Nexus, but I can't figure out how to silence them without hanging up (in the case of incoming calls) or without having to wait until the entire sound bite is over? Any suggestions? Does anyone know how to do that?Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You can even press the power button again to switch the screen back on and the ringtone is silent if the call is still waiting to be answered. The voice call will still be at the correct volume when you actually answer it.

That is what you should check your updates for messages in. You may have already had it and havent realised or its a steady roll out, I'm not sure. But the rest of my post should point you in the direction if the update is on your phone already.

I love having separate tones not only because it's fun, but simply because when I'm busy and I get a message I know who it's from before I even pick up my phone. This way, if I'm expecting a message from a certain person, I don't have to check my phone every single time it goes off. Besides the fact that not all texts are my top priority. Sometimes I don't want or need to reply right away so this way I can sort of 'screen' my messages when I have other things to do. I don't have time to sit around and stare at my phone all day. I just upgraded from a galaxy s4, and I could change message ringtones on that phone. That should be reason enough to have them - why would you give your users less than you were offering 4+ years ago?

But as for specific reasons - I sleep with my phone in my bedroom. There are some family members who might call or text in the middle of the night with car or health issues, and I want them to have ringtones that are long and distinctive and will wake me up. When I get a text from Verizon or from some group chat where someone had insomnia, I want a quick, unobtrusive ringtone that I won't hear or that I will know is not important. I'm pretty upset that I lost that feature with this new phone.

I have 3 property's all have alarm system in and when triggered they send me a messages all have different notifications sound from my normal text sounds. This is very important to me and has been a feature I have had with Samsung for years. It needs to be brought back fast in the next software update.

How can I set the text volume to be the same as the ring tone volume. I know there is only one setting for both but my text tone volume is considerably lower than my ringtone. I have the iPhone XS Max

I want to hear ringtones for calls but only vibrating for messages etc.

(Because i dont like to miss calls, and vibrating is a nice deal between nothing and beeping)

On samsung devices you have since years different volume bars for that and i thought it would be a general android feature.

( its something you cant do on iOS at all)

I installed the update a few days ago ,& now all my individual contact text message sounds are gone ,it tells you how to add a individual sound but when you go into contacts there is a ringtone choice ,but no choice to add individual text message sounds,it worked before the update whts up sprint ??

Most of my friends text me instead of calling and one of the great features was assigning a song to each individual. Now when I receive a text I am forced to only have one sound or song available.
