the Mystery
and the path ahead for you
*walk with you across
the bridge towards
your more authentic self.
*hear your process and
dive in with you.
*remind you you're not alone
as you break open.
I’m a lover of metaphor and see myself as a river and as a bridge. I’m a guide and a hearty companion. I am an artist and a mother. I am a mosaic of my broken and picked-up-again pieces. Art and more widely, creativity, has been a part of my life since the moment I was born. In fact, I believe we are co-creating our lives with the universe, that our lives are our master work, and that they should reflect our most authentic self in action.
I exist with many modalites regularly including textile art, poetry, collage, music and movement (dancing!). Basically if there is a way to take pieces that might, at first, seem separate, and then put them together in a new way, I'm there! I am inspired by the philosophy and the metaphor of kintsugi; the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with golden joinery. I spread the message that just because we have broken spots (experiences that may have broken us open~) , we don't need to be thrown out~ instead we can mend in a beautiful and purposeful way. We can honor ourselves and others by doing the work of mending and becoming a new version of ourselves.
For as long as I can remember I have leaned on multiple modalities of art and creativity.
From trips to art museums and flea markets as a child, to studying English literature and music in undergrad at the University of Kansas, to exploring humanistic psychology, family systems and Expressive Art Therapy in graduate school at Goddard College, the arts, and the alchemy created when combined with humans, have grown and evolved into a playful theory and way of living for me.
I have a private practice in Brunswick, Maine, where I use expressive art and other intuitive practices as a vehicle for journeying with clients towards their more authentic selves. I look forward to exploring mysteries with people, and to making discoveries with them. I understand that I'm here to remind people of the power they have inside themselves already, how to tap into it, and to flow with it. This work is fun and freeing. It's one of my greatest joys.
As Ariadne lent her silver thread to Theseus, when he faced the labyrinth and the fearsome Minotaur, I see my role as a fellow journey-worker as one who holds a thread of safety and sense of home so the client may wander in, and explore their inner landscape, and all the complexities found there, with curiosity and the comfort of a consistent companion.
