509 (a) (2) Public Charity No. 83-152096

With the baseball phase underway we are now commencing fundraising for the 2nd phase "Veteran's Memorial Patio" portion of the project to help honor the many Essex, Massachusetts War Veterans. The 748sf stamped and textured concrete patio will allow a formal area for ceremonies, meetings and a great view of the baseball complex. The Veterans Sub Committee, headed by Walter Rich, is currently trying to raise over $7,500.00 for the patio. We have raised $2,500.00 to date.

Donate by using the below PayPal link or mail to the below address.

Thank you to our Grand Slam Partners, Bank Gloucester, Kelly Automotive Group and Mr. Ralph Bates, we could not have completed the 1st phase baseball portion of the project without their very generous donations!!

The Friends of Memorial Park Improvement Project, Inc. (FOMPIP), a non-profit organization, was established by several Essex and Manchester Massachusetts residents, in August of 2018 with a common goal of making Shepard Memorial Park's sports facility and its adjacent War Memorial, improved and updated for all to enjoy for generations to come. We work under the supervision and control of the Essex DPW and in tandem with the the Veteran's Subcommittee.

We would like to elevate the ball park and the historic memorial to the level they deserve, so they could proudly be used by the entire town of Essex, Manchester Essex Regional High School Sports, Manchester Essex Little League Junior's Level, Manchester Essex Mariners Men's Baseball and the community at large for special events and ceremonies.

Currently, we have raised $ 106,994.50 goal for our first phase and have begun construction on the First Phase. Phase one includes adding much needed brand new dugouts, new backstop, new safety fencing and improved grading and drainage.

The 2nd phase (with direction from the newly formed Veteran's Subcommittee) includes the "Veterans Memorial Patio" and 3rd phase , may include a flag pole, repositioning of the "Honor Roll" from in front of the Town Hall or other improvements to the Veterans Memorial area.

Board member, Eric Gjerde, of Seaglass Architecture has created plans to do this while keeping in mind the beauty, integrity and environmental qualities of the property.

Having been granted approval by the Essex DPW, we are working together with them to facilitate the build. We welcome input from the community. Contact us at
