Memento Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Memento ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our mobile application.

2. Data Collection and Local Storage

Memento is designed to be a local-only tool. All personal information—including name, birth month/year, income, work hours, habits, and activity history—is stored exclusively on your device's internal storage (DataStore). We do not collect, transmit, store, or share your personal data on external servers or with any third parties. (Note: Your actual PIN code is never stored; see Section 5).

3. Camera and Image Processing

The app requests access to your device's Camera solely for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to scan prices. This process happens in real-time. The app does not save photos to your gallery, nor does it upload images or extracted text to the internet. Image processing is performed entirely on-device using Google ML Kit.

4. Third-Party Services

The app utilizes on-device services provided by Google Play Services (ML Kit). These services operate locally on your hardware and comply with Google's privacy standards for on-device processing.

5. Data Security and Retention

- App Protection & Authentication: You can enable an optional local PIN-lock to restrict access to the app. For your absolute security, your actual PIN is never saved or stored in plain text anywhere on your device. Instead, the app generates and securely stores only a one-way cryptographic hash (salted SHA-256) of your PIN, which is used strictly to verify your identity locally.

- Backups: The app is configured to disable cloud backups to ensure your data never leaves your specific device.

- Deletion: All data is permanently deleted if you uninstall the app, clear the app's cache/data in device settings, or use the "Reset All" function within the app. Because the app is fully offline, we have no physical or technical ability to recover deleted data.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date."
