International workshop on Membrane Technologies for Desalination, Energy and Water (MemDEW)
18 - 20th October 2023
About the Workshop
The international workshop on Membrane Technologies for Desalination, Energy and Water Sustainability (MemDEW) will be organized by the Department of Hydrology, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India. MemDEW will cover a wide range of topics related to membrane transport processes. Some potential areas of discussion will include the mechanisms underlying transport across membranes, the properties of different membrane materials and their impact on transport, the design and optimization of membrane-based separation processes, and the development of new membrane technologies for specific applications. Additionally, the emphasis on numerical modeling suggests that attendees may discuss computational methods for simulating transport phenomena and how these can be used to guide experimental design and interpretation. Overall, MemDEW will provide a platform for sharing the most recent technological innovations and scientific developments associated with desalination, water resources management, water treatment technology, and water/environmental issues, including emerging pollutants, zero liquid discharge, resource recovery, green energy, health, and gas separation. It will examine how the latest developments in membrane technology can improve water quality and reliability. In addition to desalination and membrane bioreactor applications, the Workshop unveils new technologies for treating water and wastewater.
This workshop aims to bring together an interdisciplinary group of researchers, like-minded organizations, and stakeholders, including research organizations, universities, NGOs, and SMEs from various parts of the globe to share their knowledge and research findings on the latest developments. It will facilitate the exchange of ideas on the topics mentioned above, especially about low-cost water treatment, wastewater treatment, recycling, and reuse. The workshop will feature invited lectures by distinguished experts from reputable universities and institutions, paper presentations, and interactive sessions. Faculty members, research scholars, and students will also have the opportunity to showcase their own work and receive feedback from experts.
