Professor Dong-Weon Lee, School of of Mechanical Engineering, Chonnam National University
Professor Dong-Weon Lee is a leading faculty member at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Chonnam National University. He received his Ph.D. in 2001 from the Department of Mechatronics at Tohoku University, Japan, under the supervision of Professor Masayoshi Esashi, a pioneer in the field of MEMS. After completing his doctoral degree, he conducted his research at the IBM Zurich Research Laboratory, one of the world’s top research institutions in nanotechnology and microfabrication.
Since joining Chonnam National University in 2004, Professor Lee has been at the front of MEMS, biosensors, and nanotechnology research in Korea. As one of the most distinguished professors at his university, he has not only demonstrated exceptional research productivity but has also played an important role in academic leadership and community service across multiple national societies.
Professor Lee’s outstanding contributions to education, research, and academic service have established him as one of the most influential figures in Korea’s mechanical and microsystems engineering communities. He continues to lead various research projects and mentor the next generation of engineers and researchers, enhancing Chonnam National University's reputation both domestically and internationally.
