HISTORY
It was in February 5, 1967, with the passage of Republic Act No. 605 and with the combined efforts and initiative of the Barangay Council headed by Brgy. Captain Luna M. Montejo and Municipal Mayor, Amando G. Melgar Sr., a barrio high school was opened at the elementary school site with two teachers and two sections of first year. The school was under the supervision of the elementary principal.
Years after, in 1981 due to the increase of enrolment, a new site was purchased and an independent secondary school was recognized and named Melgar Barangay High School. The school site has a land area of 7,4406 sq m. It is located at Melgar A, Naujan with a distance of 11 km from the town proper (Naujan) and thirty-two (32) km from the DepEd Division Office, Sta. Isabel, Calapan City. The school site is a swampy area before but with the assistance of the stakeholders it was elevated from the sea level. It was situated some meters away from Butas River to the east and a rice field near a cliff/ravine to the west. The local road leading to the municipal center is mostly concrete in fair condition with some plain gravel portion. The school is accessible to any land and water type of vehicles.
The school serves nearby barangays namely: Concepcion; Antipolo; San Jose I; Melgar A & B; Montemayor, Masaguing, Herrera and Montelago.
