Some new USA Pickleball rules for 2025 include:
Volley definition: A volley begins when paddle hits the ball, and the backswing is no longer considered part of the volley. A player can touch the non-volley zone (NVZ) before hitting the ball, but must re-establish their feet outside the kitchen before striking the ball.
Line calls: Only the player or their partner can make line calls, and spectators are no longer allowed to input their opinions.
Verbal “not ready” signals: A verbal “not ready” signal is now recognized.
No spin on release or toss: There is no spin allowed with the hand or paddle on the release or toss, but spin can be added when the paddle hits the ball.
